Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

For the first time in 15 years I am leaving my family behind while I go on a long-distance business trip. Please pray for all of us - my kids are worried, my husband is already overworked and doesn't need extra stress, and I don't need to get sunburned or have dental problems (already in progress) while I'm gone. I'll be away from a computer, but I'll be praying for your intentions!

Praying for your safety and peace, Nancy! I'm going to be posting a similar request...it's a little nervewracking.

I'm safe at home...it was an interesting trip to Mexico's Riviera Maya. As the only married, non-yoga-practicing, 40+ person (and the only parent) on the trip, I was a definite fish out of water...and I was very thankful to go to Mass Sunday evening here at home and re-ground myself.

Having said that, I visited some amazing places and learned a lot about the Maya people in Mexico. Hopefully, some of my work will encourage people to visit the area and use Mayan-owned tour companies for their day trips.

My husband did quite well, considering his long commute...dd missed piano but that's okay...she's the only student who takes lessons all summer from this teacher, so she's still ahead.

...reminds me of when our family joined my dh for a business trip at an area resort...that was also sponsoring the Mrs. America Pagent .

Welcome home .

Love,

LOL, Angie!

The good part was explaining homeschooling to our Mexican guides and hotel contacts and having them totally get it, and seeing cool Mayan ruins and cenotes.

The other good part was coming home and feeling so happy to be my own Catholic homeschooling self, to get back to the 4Real boards and remember that there are so many wonderful families out there...I don't have to be a yoga instructor or a fan of non-monogamous "marriages" to be a journalist. Really.

I think I'll plan to attend Mass right after every business trip from now on! I felt battered by all the different lifestyles I encountered. (No wonder my dh says several rosaries each day on the commuter train...ack.)
