They started radiation therepy this week. It's his most dangerous time.. the tumor has been pushing on the aorta and vena cava and they don't know if those have been weakened or invaded by the tumor.. and as the tumor shrinks he could be at risk for one of them rupturing. And there's just not really anything that can be done for it or about it.
I'm avoiding thinking about it, my sister is stressed, mom is having a hard time and so is dad but dad would be the first to tell you that this is harder on mom than on him. 
Your prayers have been greatly appreciated.. we're in the "home stretch" now.. he won't be cured.. but if the tumor can be shrunk enough for it to stop being a problem that's enough for now.. he just needs to survive the shrinking.

Thanks Chari, not headed that way any time soon though.. if we needed to go there my folks are in Phoenix at the moment and you're the wrong direction (bummer, it would be a pleasant side trip).
I have no clue what any plan is for a funeral or anything.. I doubt mom would choose to stay there since the closest of any relatives is my dad's brother in Las Vegas. And the next is my sister and I up here.
I would have a much easier time just knowing what the plans are one way or the other.. but can't ask because I think mom is trying very hard not to think of it at all.
I do know that mom would be coming here sooner or later.. and we might need to get my BIL down there to help her drive.. BIL because he'd have an easier time getting away and he was a truck driver so would be fairly comfortable driving her RV.
But I don't know that we'd actually need to go down there. And we hope of course that this tumor will just shrink without any problems and they'll be driving their RV up here to spend the summer over in ID.

Oh, Jodie...I know the tremendous Cross the entire family carries when one so loved is suffering! And, I'm a planner like you, and long to just have a sense of what I need to be prepared for. It's so difficult to just surrender to the moment of suffering. I need to wash something...move something...reorganize something.
I'm praying for your dad! Praying for your mom! And praying for all of you that walk right next to them along the Via. This is a tough walk that sometimes seems to stretch on and on with a disappearing horizon full of unknowns. Begging the Divine Mercy to be most attentive to your dad and all of you during this time.
