My mommy heart is breaking.
Ever since our In-Laws moved in we've been under a tremendous amount of stress and misery. There doesn't seem to be a way out of it until BIL gets a job and they move out because we can't throw them out. They are hinting at a year.
In the past month, Nicholas has gone from a child who loves life to a child who I find crying in his closet.
They are everything opposite of us.
Tonight, he gave away all of his beloved toys to his brother. He told his brother that he won't be needing them anymore.
Even my 2yo told me she doesn't like home anymore. I asked "Why?". She told me "everybody fighting". It's big things and little things that are adding up to misery, but it's mainly between my son and the 9yo who can do no wrong in his mother's eyes.
Home is no longer the place any of us want to be. I'm not looking for advice because we really feel stuck, but please pray for us....especially my son, Nicholas.

One year??!?!?!?! my goodness.. maybe they need to lower their standards. My sis came up here.. we helped pay for her move.. and they still had their own place within 4 months.
How about this.. can you make your bedroom more of a family room.. and I mean that literally for YOUR family.. so that you have a place to hang out together seperate from the ILs?

Oh my! Michaela, I feel for you greatly and your poor, dear Nicholas! I'd be praying for a miracle here, that they will blessed with new lodgings, beyond their calculations. I'll be praying for it.

I have to say it is very sad that they have not been heroic in their desire to make life as easy as possible for you all, it doesn't sound very grateful on their behalf..praying for you all Michaela!

Praying for you and your family. Wow, having family move in to assist them in their issues is one thing, but quite another to have them become so difficult to have around. Perhaps one year is too long and there needs to be a diplomatic way to give them an earlier deadline to move out. Only you'll know for sure. Holding you in prayer, no fun no doubt. God Bless!

Oh Michaela.....crying in the closet?? ? This situation sounds dreadful! A year seems very long in this situation. Are they as unhappy as you are?

This sounds like it would be helpful if you can do it.
We're doing our Rosary now and I'll offer it up for all of you especially your son.
Peace,
Jody

Will say prayers - and have you talked to a priest for counsel about this? Sometimes, we are so close to a situation and so giving that we can't see things clearly. A priest, a good prayerful discussion, can help. Hugs!

You know what. YOU should not be bearing the burden of "they have no where else to go".. it's YOUR HOME. Perhaps they need to think seriously about if they make themselves unwelcome that they have no where else to go???
And if they were hurting my children and destroying the home-ness of my home. Well... maybe they need to know the rules of your house and give that burden back. They may follow the rules.. and you can include that no child's word is taken over the others.. if A says B did it and B says no. You can't take B's word over A's. Or they may find somewhere else to go.
You'll just have to stop carrying that burden for them.

Michaela - this situation troubles my heart deeply, and I offer you my prayers.

My conscience will not allow me to go to sleep without telling you how concerned I am about your Nicholas. The situation you face in your home has exceeded a normal level of "merging two families" stress and is offering some unsafe and troubling circumstances. I think Leonie's suggestion to talk with your family priest is very good and would offer some healthy, outside perspective.
I am imploring the saints, and especially St. Michael to offer his protection to your Nicholas and to extend it to your entire family. And, I am begging dear St. Joseph to offer you and your husband guidance and wisdom in this situation, that you might be able to protect your family and keep them close to Jesus just as he protected the Holy Family on the Flight to Egypt.
May Our Lady wrap her mantle of protection around your family, and especially Nicholas.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy.

Michaela,
Praying this from your blog for your family:
Quote:
Oh, St. Joseph,
whose protection is so great, so prompt, so strong,
before the throne of God,
I place in you all my interests and desires.
Oh, St. Joseph,
do assist me by your powerful intercession,
and obtain for me from your Divine Son
all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power,
I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most Loving of Fathers.
Oh, St. Joseph,
I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms;
I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart.
Press Him in my name and kiss His fine Head for me and
Ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath.
St. Joseph, Patron of departed souls - pray for me.
Amen. |
