I've been dealing with some serious prodromal labor the past week - the kind that keeps me up at night swaying my hips and pacing the hall, wondering if we should call the midwife and set up the tub. I keep saying "two more contractions and we'll call" - that must be a signal to my uterus to calm down! LOL! I am exhausted. I am huge (measuring 41cms now!) and I am more pregnant than I have been in a long time. It's so ironic to me that we were worried about this one coming too soon.
I am not over due by any means, but the prodromal stuff is driving me crazy. I'm feeling alot of pressure today (physical pressure) and thinking I might have another practice round today/tonight.
I'd appreciate any prayers, for my sanity and strength!
And I'd love to hear if any of you have dealt with ongoing prodromal labor.

Well, I had never heard that term before, but I guess that is what I have experienced with all of my pregnancies except the first. It usually started around my due date and lasted about a week and a half. It was causing dilation and I was creeping up there, already at 6 cm and still was not in active labor. I guess I am not a very patient person. With my daughters, my midwife finally broke my water to get "real labor" started.
Mine happened more during the day depending on activity level (vacuuming seemed to set it off) and rarely kept me up at night. I am so sorry you are being deprived of your rest! Maybe God will bless you with a little one who loves to nap! Prayers!

Yes, from about 22-25 weeks gestation. I spent most of the latter half of my pregnancies on medication to stop contractions, but after I was off the meds it was four or five weeks of "off and on" contractions until I delivered.
My comfort spot was in our bathtub. I hope your baby arrives soon!

No stranger to prodromal labor here! The tricky part is that often those contractions make lots of progress, then when the *real thing* comes you don't have as much time as you might figure you do. Praying that the rest of your pregnancy and labor and delivery go well -- and that you have your little one before you're too tired from the prodrome.
Peace,
Nancy

praying for you. I don't seem to have prodromal anything, and I tend to go at least one week over on average. but I do have vulvular varicosities which make standing/walking, etc near impossible after about week 34. Praying that you can find some relief and/or that baby comes soon.

Praying here for you and baby, Lisa--and send some of those dilation vibes my way (tomorrow's my due date with no labor in sight!)!

Ugh... what a pain. I hear what you're going through - I'm there for the last couple of weeks of all of my pregnancies it seems. I did a lot of knitting and reading aloud to keep my mind occupied. Showers helped when it got really annoying.
My midwife actually recommended a glass of wine for me before bed one night. I opted for an Irish coffee and it put the PL right to bed. No problem.
Blessings,

We've been praying for you over here and will continue to do so.
Your post answers the question that was asked after Adoration today...."has Lisa had the baby?". One mom was sure she'd heard you delivered!

Praying and commiserating! Had that with the last one for a month before delivery (encouraging, no? ). My doula just kept reminding me of all the "good work" that was taking place, and it definitely made labor easier! We barely made it to the hospital! (Oh, what I would give for a home birth...)
Sorry to hear it is keeping you up though. Make certain to stay rested--grab naps whenever you can! Looking forward to hearing of baby's safe arrival soon!
