Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

As I was out running yesterday, I came across a woman walking towards me with a man following her (on the wrong side of the road) in a truck yelling awful things to her. I asked her if she was okay and she just looked at me as to say just keep going, this isn't anything new. So, I kept running, but kept thinking of the parable of the good Samaritain. As I turned back that way, they were now in a parking lot where he was continuing to yell out the window. I prayed to God as what to do, ran home and called 911.

I felt the need to ask all you strong women to pray for all families involved in violence, especially during this Holy Season. God bless and hug your husband!

This is awful, Jennifer. It is so good that you were open to the prompting of the Holy Spirit here on her behalf.

It is good to be reminded to pray for those influenced in some way by violence.

...off to hug my hubby!

God Bless you, Jennifer, for stopping to ask! My college roommate said no matter how many bruises she had, no one ever asked her if she needed help.

These families are ever in my prayers. And I thank my husband daily for being the man he is.

My heart goes out to anyone suffering from abuse. Just a couple weeks ago two neighbor girls (only moved in a week before) knocked on our door, scared to death and asking us to call the police. Their father had their mother cornered in the bedroom and was hitting her. I've never had it so close to me before, and it's so, so frightening.

Praying for all those in abusive situations.

Yes, it is a very good prayer request, so many suffer at the hands of others in so many ways and unfortunately the incidents can be esculated over the Christas period, sad isn't it? Praying for this lady in particular.

I'm sorry.

Jennifer, you know that this is a close intention to my heart. Having worked in domestic violence before having children, I *know* these families, the pains they suffer, the struggle to break out of dangerous patterns. I'm praying.

I'm also praying for you and all of us who are confronted with violence as bystanders. May we discern and do God's will to the best of our abilities. Peace, sister.

Love,

If I had been in her shoes and could see the big picture, I would say (and am saying) "Thank you" for calling 911 - even if they didn't find anything - it's better to let them make the investigations and actually give them the opportunity to do so, rather than let something go that could literally be deadly.

So many prayers for everyone in that situation - especially at Christmas time.... May have the strength and the bravery to get out - and may they find loving souls to assist them!

Praying. However unfortunate it may be, domestic violence is usually worse during this season. You did the right thing by calling 911.

There was a time when someone made a call for me and a boyfriend - no charges were pressed but it was the beginning of the end of that very destructive relationship.

You did a good thing. Prayers for them both.
