Hey y'all -- I could really use your prayers. My only sister (she's the oldest of 7 of us) was hit by a van while she was walking to work this a.m. This was in San Francisco, and I'm in South Carolina just worrying.
All we know now is that she's in the Trauma/Intensive Care Unit of SF General with head injuries. She hadn't seen a neurosurgeon yet. Her husband was told to go home "as it may be days before we know anything". My poor mother in Napa is worried sick but can't do anything and my dh is in Rome till Monday.....

 Oh, Mary, hugs and prayers coming. I'm so sorry to hear about the accident and know it's hard to feel so helpless being all the way across the country.

Well ladies, your prayers must already be working -- I talked to Mom tonight and she said that Anne is in "stable condition", no broken bones or internal injuries that they can find. The tough part is that she's got a head injury and they won't know the brain damage until the swelling goes down -- so it's a good news, no news scenario.
Maria P thanks for the offer -- Mom lives in Napa (but never did learn to drive) and Anne has always been her resource for getting abuot. Right now, she's chomping at the bit to get to SF but knows there's nothing she can do. So thanks -- maybe if I head out there I'll hook up with you!

I pm'ed Maria directly -- she is so sweet (as is her dh) but mom is practicing the virtue of patience and calling all my siblings and her family to update all and sundry.
Y'all are amazing! What an extended family community we have here on 4Real -- I sit here in SC swapping library recommendations with Leonie in Australia, folks are offerring my mom rides and all are praying -- who'd a thunk it was possibe?

Mary I just read your post. How awful!! So glad to hear the initial report is no major breaks or internal damage but we'll be praying for Anne and the whole family.
