Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My mother-in-law is on the phone with my dh right now--she went grocery shopping this morning and while she was putting her groceries in the trunk (with the cart right there!) her purse was in the front of the cart. A car drove past quickly, a hand shot out of the passenger side, and they grabbed her purse and drove away! She lost everything: house keys, car keys, credit cards, checkbook Medicare card, even some cash.

She's already had the locks on the house changed, reported the cards, etc. It will cost a lot to have the locks on the car changed, but they've taken some precautions since the thieves have their home address and could try to steal the car.

Unfortunately, my MIL didn't get a good look at the thief or the car--it all happened so fast.

Please pray that nothing worse comes of this, and that if possible the thieves are caught.

Also--a good reminder not to leave a purse unattended, even for a second, especially this time of year!

Ouch. Praying, too.

Our county actually has a Holiday Robbery Task Force. They've already caught some suspects (sad!). This time of year, and this year in particular, vigilance is essential.

Oh wow! Hoping all is recovered soon, and that your MIL can find some peace (I'd probably still be shaking!). Praying for the situation's easy resolution.

That is just awful! Praying that nothing more comes of it and that they catch the thieves.

Praying that nothing more happens as a result of identifying *stuff* getting into the wrong hands. Many years ago my wallet was taken by pickpockets. A week or two later I had a postage due notice in my mail, and when I went to the post office was able to claim my wallet with everything intact, just the $ taken. My prayer is that your MIL's purse will *show up* somewhere in a similar condition.

Peace,
Nancy

How awful and shocking. Praying for her safety and peace of mind.

Also thanks for the reminder to me about vigilance with purses - that easily could have happpened to me - I'll be more wary.
