Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I would appreciate prayers for me generally, and my family. I'm just feeling overwhelmed by a bunch of different stuff.

Maybe it's partly a postpartum thing; the baby's not quite 3 months old. Her sleep patterns are not helping! They were more agreeable to parents sleeping well at night for a while but now again she's awake at the worst time. She seems to be teething. We even tried ibuprofen two nights in a row but it had no discernible effect. I'm not getting my exercise walks lately either.

Also an unspecified prayer intention from not too long ago about "something that has been bothering me deeply" is still highly relevant.

Thanks for any prayers!

I'm praying, Theresa.

Interrupted sleep always makes days seem more overwhelming! It could be that she's just going through a developmental milestone and just needs to touch home base more often. In any case, I'm praying that you are able to return to gentler days and I am holding all of your intentions up in my prayers!

Thanks all -- she said, as her 4-year-old played with Legos in the dining room at 3:23 a.m.... he fell asleep around 7 p.m. and woke up just before 3. What the baby does is take little naps all night... it would be nice if her 4- or 5-hour sleep block began earlier than 7 a.m. this time, but if the 4-year-old gets any more sleep it probably won't be for hours :(

I haven't had many almost-sleepless days though -- I am grateful that my husband's working at home so often prevents me from having to function on two hours of sleep or whatever, unlike many other mothers.

Well, I think we might have gotten to the peak of this problem. I'll just say that for many hours now we've been amazed at how she keeps waking up soon after falling asleep, even though she's usually happy enough when she's awake so it's not pain or anything causing it. So just maybe when she finally gets some long sleep blocks it'll be a better time of day for that than it almost ever has before.

I really am better off than a lot of women in a situation like this because my husband's work from home allows so much relief for me, but what the baby's sleep patterns have done to our sleep patterns makes life feel a lot less "orderly" around here. And it wasn't so orderly to begin with.

Are you sure it wouldn't help you more right now to have an easy freezer meal like that for your family, Marilyn, since it's right there? Or would you hate to even be around lasagne -- pretty sure I had no interest in it early in my last pregnancy!
