Last year about this time I posted about my husband's partner's son Christopher who had been diagnosed with Wilm's tumor (a kidney cancer). Christopher was doing well but something happened where his parents felt it necessary to take him to the ER this morning. My husband called this afternoon to say Christopher was being life-flighted to the regional children's medical center and there may be a mass in his brain.
Please pray for Christopher and his parents. Thank you.
10/28/08 update: My husband just called with devastating news. There is a bleeding mass in Christopher's brain. This morning a procedure was done to alleviate the pressure inside his skull, and later today he will have a biopsy as well. They believe the mass is metastases from his kidney cancer, but of course they need to be sure. The plan tomorrow is to have a more extensive surgery, I'm speculating to debulk the tumor. There is further concern the tumor has affected the spinal column. Please continue to pray.
PM update: Christopher is scheduled for surgery beginning at 8am tomorrow morning, expecting to last approx. eight hours. Thank you for your continued prayers.
10/29 afternoon update: The drs emailed his parents to say they are closing the surgical site and Christopher is stable. No other details...
10/30 update: the mass was entirely removed. It appears to be metastases of the kidney cancer, which is exceedingly rare. This tumor generally does not metastasize to the brain. Treatment options are being evaluated. He will have four or five days of recovery time from this surgery. Please continue to pray.
10/31 update: Christopher is awake and eating some soft foods. He'll be in the hospital for at least two more weeks. At this point we believe he will be having a short-term series of chemo treatments and radiation to treat the metastases. Thank you for your prayers!

Oh no, that is sad news, I will be praying that it is not in the brain and it can be dealt with effectively, children can often marvel the medical practioners, I am praying this will be so.
