Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My brother and sister in law FINALLY got a diagnosis for our nephew, Justin. He was diagnosed by a pediatric GI doctor yesterday with *Ulcerative Colitis*. So that’s a condition that is inflammation of the colon, along with ulcers in it as well, thus causing the bleeding he’s had. This is a condition that is not curable (at this point), but is treatable. It will have flare ups at times (as he’s had) throughout his entire life.

They have put him on medication, he will need iron to treat his anemia, and his diet must have lots of fats and proteins. They also are giving his school notice (as in prescription) that he MUST eat often, and even during class (much as diet and eating is important to a diabetic). They have to be strict with this.

My heart is broken that Justin will have to endure this for his entire life, as he’s only 11 years old. He will now be seen by the Endocrine doctors (the same ones that see my kids probably), so that they can determine whether his low growth is caused by this condition, or growth deficiencies (because it is familial as is evidenced in my family here). But we are grateful to finally have a diagnosis, and that he’s under a doctor’s care, and that my brother and sister in law now have some direction, and know what they can do to finally help their son!

We are GRATEFUL for ALL of your prayers that you’ve given on behalf of Justin, my brother and sister in law, and our family. They have been a tremendous blessing to us! We ask that you pray for continued wisdom for the doctors regarding his health care, and also for his parent’s wisdom in following the Lord’s discernment in this as well. Please pray Justin won’t get very sick with so much pain again, and that the Lord may heal him some day if that is in His will and purpose for Justin. He’s the cutest little angel faced kid, and his Aunt Tracy is oh, so proud of how he’s handled such a grown up problem! (Ok, don’t tell him I told you all that, he’d roll his eyes! LOL).

This is my final update, unless more prayers are needed at a later time (which hopefully won’t be the case). But our hope always lies in our Lord!
With Love and THANKS,
Tracy

I've been wondering about and praying for Justin, Tracy. I'm relieved that there is finally a diagnosis - the unknown is always so frightening.

Though this seems challenging to work with, at least it is treatable, and I'm praying Justin and his family can work out solutions that allow for a routine to develop that keeps this troubling ulcerative colitis at bay.

I will continue to pray!

I'll be praying that this boy receives the optimal treatment for the best management of this illness, what a brave boy!

Just seeing this. I'm offering a prayer for Justin. Our friends' daughter has UC also. It has been both a cross and a blessing. Sandra has handled it better than all of the grown-ups around her combined, despite the pain and trips to the hospital.

She's taught us all so much with her strength. God bless Justin. I pray that his family and medical team will find a management solution for him quickly, so he can get on with the business of being a kid.

Blessings,

Tracy,
I will keep your nephew in my prayers.
My best friend's son has Crohn's, which is very similiar and chronic (and very difficult to live with).

So glad there is a diagnosis, sorry for the poor little guy that it's going to be a life-long battle. I hope all goes well with his treatment. Thank you for the update. We'll keep him in our prayers.

I will be praying for your nephew. Hopefully, he will learn to make his treatment just another part of his life so he can go about being a kid. It is amazing what children can do!

What a great job you all have done through a difficult time. I'm so happy that you all have a diagnosis and the strength to help each other! My prayers continue. Thanks for the update, Tracy.

Love,
