My husband is driving home from an attempt to get somewhere in time for an X-ray he should have soon, but he couldn't make it, and now there seems to be a problem with the minivan. I have no understanding of car stuff, but in discussing possibilities he's mentioned compression and exhaust, gaskets (?) and the engine. I'm 38 weeks 1 day pregnant, this is our only functioning vehicle, he's the only driver, we're already borrowing from money that was being saved for another specific purpose while waiting for clients to pay (most of whose invoices will not necessarily be due before we're in the hospital not so close to the p.o. box where we receive payments, and our bank). So, prayers very much appreciated (he asked me to ask for them!)
ETA: despite my relieved update below, after returning the rental car and taking a cab back to the repair place, my husband drove a bit toward home and realized the minivan was not running acceptably like the place had said, to the point that it's now being towed back there. Please, if you see this, more prayers would be appreciated.

Thanks all. We will be paying a not at all insignificant amount, but unless some other problem is found, much less than I had feared. Something else coming up to take our time right now is almost as upsetting to me, so I'm glad we'll probably have our own car back this afternoon (we have a rental now.)

Well, it looks like we need either a new engine or just a new (used) car, depending on what makes most financial sense. Neither option is exactly going to be easy. I'm just so glad the shop manager is giving us a very reasonable refund for the part of the work that was inadequate. I wasn't looking forward to time being spent in a dispute over this.

Oh bother. What a gigantic pain in the rear. I'm so sorry. I'm praying you'll get it fixed once and for all, or can replace it.
