Could folks please pray for my 3-year-old, Jonathan, who was diagnosed in January with leukemia? He is at the end of his first line of treatment but his last chemo has caused his bone marrow to stop making platelets, which make his blood clot. We have been in the ER every day this week for transfusions, and on one occasion he was not able to receive as many platelets as he needed due to a severe shortage of donated blood products in our area. Since that time, he has been able to receive regular transfusions, but he is still greatly at risk of complications like bleeding in his brain or spontaneous internal bleeding.
He was hospitalized last night but after 2 transfusions was allowed to come home this afternoon. Unfortunately, he climbed up on a footstool and toppled off, bumped his chin, bit his tongue and now his bleeding won't stop, so my husband is on the way to the ER AGAIN with him just now. I don't know if they will keep him or give him the transfusion and send him home.
Anyway, he is just a little boy, and we are so close to being done with his first 6 months of intensive chemotherapy (we are just waiting for his bone marrow to recover from the last big hit last week). Then when his blood counts recover, we can go on to his 3-year long-term maintenance (which will still be daily chemo but much less toxic).
The bleeding and clotting issues (and the secondary issue of donated blood products being in short supply in our area) are just so scary.
I would appreciate prayer for his healing, and also for my husband and self and older sons for comfort and peace. And for all the other children on this forum or in the world who are dealing with this disease.
Thank you.
Pam

Update: Jonathan is out of the woods (and out of the hospital). After I posted my request for prayers here, he had NO MORE DIFFICULTY getting the platelet transfusions he needed (and he went on to need about 8 more!) So I knew we were getting the miracles this discussion says to expect - in the middle of a severe blood shortage, we got all we needed.
Jonathan is now safely through the most intensive part of his first 6-months of chemotherapy. Next week, if all goes as expected, he will go into a long-term maintenance phase, which still involves chemo, but is much less toxic. It will last 3 years, and we are told we will have much more of a normal life.
I can't express what it meant to me to see all your messages here and know that such faithful women were storming Heaven for my little boy (and for me). THANK YOU truly from the bottom of my heart.

Oh, Pam- what a hard thing for your family. You are very brave.
May Our Lady wrap that boy up in her cloak and heal him.
Praying to the Sacred Heart for full healing for Jonathan.
A big hug for you....
