Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Oh, dear. Our kitty Ira is looking like he's going to pass today. He's just lying there... He's very elderly - 14 years old, and has been a wonderful cat. Several years ago, he had a liver ailment that cost us the bomb to fix, but we love him so much. A couple of years ago, he lost his ability to control his bladder, so we needed to keep him in his own special area so that he could be cleaned up after. He lost his hearing in the last year or so, and recently his vision has been failing utterly. Bless him, he's been a love through it all.

The kids are taking turns keeping him company, and Jack has gone out to choose a spot to put him. Those pets can really get into your heart, and it's so hard to lose them.

St. Francis, pray for us.

Blessings,

Ira passed peacefully at about 11:30. Thank goodness, he was surrounded by the children. They were able to say their goodbyes. The sweetest thing was that he was purring right up to the end. The kids sat by him and stroked his lovely long, white fur.

I'm in awe of God's creation in animals. I'm so thankful that we have been given critters to love.

Blessings,

Oh, I'm praying for your sweet family as you grieve his loss, Nissa. It is hard to lose a family pet. So very sad and hard! Praying for God's sweet consolations for your family as you miss your beloved Ira!

Thank you all so much. It feels a bit like the end of an era around here, but I'm so proud of the way the kids are handling it (and me, too!). They have such a lovely understanding. They are as thankful as I am that we were able to have Ira for so long. He and his brother George were rescue cats. Just beautiful, lovable, sweet cats - and I'm definitely *not* a cat person normally.

I knew I'd find folks here that understood about furry family members.

Blessings,

God blessed Ira with your family, and Ira blessed your family with love. Saying goodbye to our pet family is SO hard, but we know we're better for having loved them, and being loved by them.

I pray for peace, and comfort, and healing in your hearts for your entire family. May the Lord bless you for having rescued him, and bringing love to his life.

We have beagle who was abused before he came to our home, and has so much to overcome. We're so blessed by him (well, I am anyway ), and I know he's blessed by having us. I'm not sure any other family could handle this very fickle doggie.

We have a cocker spaniel who we took when a dear friend of mine was dying with Scleroderma, and wanted her to go to a good home. Lady is now 11 years old, has arthritis, is losing her hearing, and her sight's not so good either. She's a precious dear doggie, and we know we won't have her with us for a long time, her time is limited. So we treasure this time we do have with her, and pray for the strength to say goodbye when that time comes.

I just love animals! They teach us unconditional love, a VERY powerful, and important lesson for each of us to learn.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and pray the Lord will bring you healing and comfort.
