My dh (who is an investigator w/ the Virginia State Police) received this message at work:

You may know that on June 17th, North Carolina Trooper Shawn Blanton was murdered in Haywood County, North Carolina. Trooper Blanton left behind a young wife and son. His son, Tye, was born 7 weeks premature and has been in serious condition since his birth on May 31st.   The baby is on a respirator. We are being told that once he begins to breathe completely on his own he will have to have heart surgery. The North Carolina Highway patrol is asking everyone they can possibly reach to please remember Tye, Tye’s mother and the entire Blanton family in your thoughts and prayers. God Bless baby Tye and the entire Blanton family!

I cannot imagine losing your husband two weeks after you've given birth to a preemie. He was only 24 years old. Please keep them in your prayers.

Praying for them. We were actually driving through the NC mountains near Asheville the night it happened -- the traffic was horrendous, and there were police EVERYWHERE, at every exit, getting out of cars with shotguns . . . it was two days before we saw in the paper what had happened. I knew that he had left a young wife and new baby, but didn't know the baby's health was so compromised. What a cross for that young mother to bear.

Again, praying for them right now.
