Dear Friends,
My husband is on his way shortly to tell his parents that his brother Giles has died. This news will be both shocking and sorrowful. Please pray for Mike, his parents, His other siblings and the repose of Giles' soul.
On another front, Nicholas has a significant respiratory infection and we were up all night with asthma (we would have been up all night following the phone call from the hospital chaplain anyway). His illness, though, will complicate the next few days. Mike's parents are very old and cannot be exposed to these kid germs. The cousins will have to be spared as well. Prayers needed all around and always appreciated.

Elizabeth,
My heart goes out to your family! My poor father had to deal with a similar thing with his younger brother. Having a sudden death is SOO hard...and then having other family issues (like sickness) keeping you from participating is even harder to deal with. There's a feeling of lack of closure. I'll offer up my prayers and sufferings for your family today.

Closure isn't quite all I meant to say...you feel a bit helpless, because you can't completely help out in the grieving process and funeral arrangements and physically being there for the family members because of your Nicholas.

Dear Elizabeth,
Our prayers for the repose of the soul of Giles and for the consolation of his parents and all those who love him. Also praying for the swift restoration of your dear Nicholas' health.
Do try to get as much rest as you can. Both grieving and caring for a sick child are each emotionally and physically draining. These events occuring simultaneously is doubly taxing on a family. May our Lord shower your entire family with graces for this difficult time.
