Supposed to leave for dentist for root canal & crown in about a half-hour - appointment is at 10:30 pacific time.
I took a half of a valium (and really wish it would start working!) and a bunch of immodium (which I also wish would start working).
I have my Ipod and my rosary and my dh's gameboy and I am trying to appear calm so my children are not terrified of a dentist. (which I am not really scared of the dentist per se, but just that stupid chair and what if I have an IBS attack?!?!?)
The "what if?" game is a pretty horrible game to play.

Just got home. Wowouch, does my mouth hurt right now. Dh is out getting my antibiotic and heavy-duty motrin.
I have to be honest, it was pretty horrible. I threw up after they did the shots to numb it.   . I was totally mortified and I was ready to just say "forget it!" at that point but I was good (your prayers are what helped me there I am sure!), and I stayed. I had a major panic attack, but I got through the whole thing (altho they didn't do the cavity on the next tooth which they were going to do since I was already numb. The dr knew I had had enough.)
So, it seems, my body thinks valium = tic-tacs. It did not do one thing for me anxiety wise, although it did make me have jelly legs and feel weak, but not in the nice relaxed way. My mind never relaxed a bit.
ugh. I have to go back in two weeks for the permanent crown, and then I am supposed to go back for some more fillings. (and actually he would like to fix my botched root canal from another dentist and that would mean removing the tooth and getting a bridge. I just can't even think about that at this time. )
Thanks everyone. If it hadn't been for the prayers, I know I woulda been SO outta there....

Laura, I am so sorry that you had such a bad time. I was "experimented on" (long story) as a child by a periodontist who scalped the roof of my mouth repeatedly and put the skin over my gums. It was VERY traumatic, and I have a terrible time sitting in that chair now!!
I will continue to pray for you, and I want to congratulate you  for getting through today.
you can do this!!!
