Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Is not good....... The lamb was healing beautifully and doing SO well and then my dh got sick. While he and I were at the doctor's office, we got a hysterical call from dd that a dog we were "babysitting" had grabbed the lamb's bandaged leg through the bottom of the gate of the pen and it was a bloody mess. I guess it was--it was broken in two places and pretty mangled. I called the vet out to put him down. It was so bad, and not fixable. Poor Dan cried all day long. And of course, we had to get the dog back to the owner that very day. The owner felt awful, and decided to put the dog down. I didn't tell the kids that part--I thought there was already too much pain for one day.

The poor vet teared up when he saw Dan's tears (he's a cantor in our parish and is very kind). And he was so frustrated to note that the stitches he put in, above the mangled part of the leg, were simply perfect. No swelling, no infection, beautifully approximated. Without the dog bite, he would have been fine.

We are going to get another lamb before the 4-H deadline of the 15th of this month. He will just HAVE to stay well.

Thanks for praying for Dan's lamb. He knew a lot of homeschooling mommies were praying for his lamb and he was thankful.
