I know there are many BIG needs on this list, and I pray for them even if I don't post. But I'm asking for prayers for my son's little 4-H lamb. We just got him and his brothers last Wednesday. We went out to work with the lambs mid-morning today to get them used to us, to their halters, etc. One lamb, ds Daniel's, had a horrendous bloody gash on his right front leg. At first we worried that it was a dogbite, but the vet came out and said it looked like a gash from being caught on a wire. We searched the fence and pen area and only found one place that might have caused this, so I hope we fixed it for the others. Anyway, the poor lamb got 55 stitches on this leg. It was a really awful rip around most of his leg. It is bandaged up, and I have to give the lamb a week's worth of penicillin injections starting tomorrow. Poor, poor lamb, and poor little boy worried about him. (And literally poor Mommy and Daddy--the bill was almost $300 for a $65 club lamb, but what could I do? I couldn't let him suffer, and it seemed wrong to decide to put him down for a leg gash.)
So prayers that the lamb heals quickly, and fully, are really appreciated. Also, pray that I can catch him and hold him still to give him his shots without too much trouble--since we just got them, they're still pretty wild. sigh.............
thanks,

How could anyone not want to pray for Mary Alice's little lamb? Praying, and I'll ask my girls to pray tomorrow--they love all of God's creatures (except spiders and wasps)!

Thanks, everyone! And Chari, thanks for the hugs--duly given.
"Jack" is holding his own. Yesterday morning when I gave him his penicillin shot he jerked his head just as I started to depress the plunger to inject and the barrel of the syringe cracked and broke off the needle part! I was able to get the needle out intact, but I felt just awful. Had to leave two kids holding the lamb while I ran in to get another dose. This morning's shot went smoothly, thank God! Four more mornings to go--please keep praying. The dressing is intact and the leg below it is not swollen, but when I touch the dressing it feels hot. I don't see any drainage, and he's not limping (I guess not--you should see him run away when he sees me with the syringe!) but 55 stitches in one tiny leg (he only weighs 46 pounds) is a big wound for a little body.
BTW, Katahdin sheep are exceptionally adorable. They are an American breed of hair sheep. Yep, hair, not wool. It got too hard year after year to get someone to help me shear wool sheep like Suffolks or Hamps. With Katahdins, their hair just falls out by county fair time, the first week of August. You literally brush it out with a dog brush. They have the cutest little faces, and their meat is very mild and good. It's so easy to love these little guys. If you are looking for an easy animal to raise, Katahdins are it.
Wasn't St. Germaine a shepherdess? We could ask her intercession for little Jack!
Thanks and please keep praying. Jack is Daniel's special project and we won't know if he's out of the woods for another week and a half.

Praying Mary Alice.
My brother, sister and I raised sheep for 4H when we were younger. I only did it one year, too traumatic at fair time.
