Twenty one years ago this morning, just as the sun burst through the window of my bedroom, my son Andrew was born. He has had so many challenges to face, including the accident nearly 2 years ago that cost him nearly half his hand and ended his classical guitar playing. He has borne most things with grace (better than his mom!), and is a son anyone would be proud of. Although he is away from the Church right now, family and friends see ample evidence of God's grace working in his life. He has moved home for this next year, is taking a semester off from college, painting houses and saving every dime, and plans to go back to school in January, majoring in photojournalism.(Some of his photography is at kratzphotography.com and I think it's good!) Would you join me in thanking God for him, and in praying for his total conversion? I must confess it is such a blessing to have him home again, after living on his own for two years. Who knows how many more birthdays he will spend even nearby for us to see him? Though we can have bigger worries with our "big kids" the joys are big too!

Mary Alice,
That was a beautiful post. Happy Birthday! Many of us took the scenic (or not so scenic ) route to the fullness of the Faith. Just keep praying! A mother's faith means so much and your son can't help but be moved by your steadfastness.

Mary Alice,
Praying for all of you, and asking St. Monica's intercession, too!
