I have a pretty rare combination of genetic disorders, prompting the specialists who work with me from Texas (Univ. Hosp Galveston) to request that my parents/siblings/children be tested as well.
So far only my dad and one sibling has been tested.
My dad's bloodwork was "redrawn" three times, because he was off the charts high with certain levels.
basically I am off the charts high at levels in the 80's, his were all well over 200 and so they thought that it was a lab error.
He is in grave? medical need right now (who knew??) and they are not sure how he has coped this long.
He has to go through Mayo now and there is great push for my children to all be tested ASAP.
I know what it is like to have the ah-ha lightbulb go off as this disorder explains so much of (seemingly unconnected ) the "why" behind ongoing and past helath struggles.
Please pray that they will be able to help him at Mayo, and that we will have some conclusions and resolutions and a "health game plan" soon.
oh, and a little prayer of discernment about when/if to test all the kids?
I do not want them to be treated like guinea pigs, and yet, we need to know, kwim??
