Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Saturday night my 16 month old, James, got his foot caught in the vacuum while it was running. The brushes cut his toes pretty badly. His pinkie toe, in particular, was quite injured. We took him to the ER where he was treated promptly. Thankfully he didn't need any stitches.

Please pray for his recovery.

Oh poor little love. There seems a never-ending list of things that pose a danger to toddlers, doesn't there? Praying for him to recover quickly. They are an amazingly resilient bunch.

It might have been our particular vacuum and how we were using it. Dh was using the hose attachment so the vacuum itself was upright. James walked up to the vacuum and slipped. When he fell, his foot went under the vacuum (the brushes were still going even though we were using the attachment). Dh later looked closely at the vacuum and noticed that the front sat about 3/4 of an inch off the ground when it was upright, perfect for little toes.

Sunday morning we bought a new vacuum. You can turn the brushes off if you don't need them.
