We are still waiting for the Judge's ruling on the motion for TEMPORARY custody.
We have already spent $4000 on fees, and just got the latest attorney bill of $5000.
Regardless of the Judge's decision, we still have to split the cost of a custody evaluator (BTW - the evaluator recommends whether homeschooling should be continued) and a mediator, and more attorney fees for a second hearing/trial, so we are looking at probably another $10,000 in the next month.
And the biological father owes back and future child support and isn't paying, but is allowed to spend "parenting" time with ds6, and allowed to call him EVERY evening. And if we aren't home our attorney gets a nasty letter from his attorney.
Are you getting a sense of my level of frustration and despair? We don't have the money to pay for any of this, and yet how can we not fight for ds6 to remain in the only home he has EVER known??????
I keep praying and praying and praying, and I know so many others are. I'm not feeling any hope. I don't want to admit that, but I'm not. My husband and I are starting to argue about stupid little things, and we both know it is because of this situation, we know we need to stand together on this and not let it come between us, but he doesn't go back to work for a few weeks and is seriously worried that we will lose everything we have.
I'm sorry, I just don't know where to turn anymore.

Me, too, Paula...I am watching my s-i-l go through a similar, ridiculous and unaffordable process, and I know from talking with her how truly depressing it is.
I will offer my day for you and pray especially all weekend that you may feel the Divine Mercy of Jesus acting in your life. I have a busy, overscheduled week ahead, so I'll have lots of things to offer up for you!

I am praying for you. What an exasperating situation. It sounds like the not knowing and waiting is the worst part so far. I am surprised that the court is taking him seriously when he is delinquent with child support. As a divorced custodial parent I know first hand how frustrating it is when the other parent is not taking financial responsibility but is still demanding evermore rights. It can also be very frustrating when your destiny seems to be totally in mortal hands  . I am storming heaven for you and sending you !
