We went to the doctor this morning and my 3yo dd just got her second preliminary Aspberger's diagnosis. We now have to go to the Behavioral Pediatrician and to Pediatric Neurology and our doctor wants us to check out the Integrative Pediatrician as well. We knew this was coming, but it is still a hard pill to swallow. She is such a beautiful girl and it is hard to imagine that there is any such flaw! I would really appreciate prayers for Anna as we delve into this Aspberger's world. Thanks so much!
Blessings,
Betsie

{{{{{{{{{{Dear Betsie}}}}}}}}}}
My youngest (9 yo Gracie) was diagnosed with Asperger's three years ago. My Gracie is a beautiful girl, too, and Asperger's will never change either of our daughters inner beauty. :) There is so much that can help now-a-days and so much is already known, so we don't have to tread a new path alone. The Asperger's person isn't hindered by so many of the "things of the world" that trouble a typical person - it *can* be a blessing.
They are special, special and BEAUTIFUL children!
Hugs and Prayers as you deal with this news.
Feel free to contact me if I can help in any way!

I also have a daughter with AS (12yo Gracie). Please don't think of AS as a "flaw", because it isn't! As Gracie has grown and matured, we've seen what a gift AS can be in so many different ways! It truly is just a "difference", and it actually makes Gracie stand out among her peers (for good reasons!).
Gracie is very picky about the literature she reads- there is no room in her world for twaddle.
She cannot tell a lie.
She has a very sly sense of humour
She is very helpful around the house- we have no lists of chores, she just does what she sees needs to be done. Her room is immaculate, and she is always organized (unlike her mother).
She has infinite patience, and can happily sit for hours, just thinking and enjoying the moment.
She is *very* creative, and loves colour. She draws, knits, sews, and is willing to try any craft once (in the case of pottery, once was enough )
She is very choosy about her friends, but completely loyal.
She loves being outdoors in nature, and also enjoys the comfort of home (I guess some would call her a homebody).
She dives deeply into her interests, and is not content with bits of info like you would find in textbooks.
Oh, and so much more! She is a delight to be around, is always sought after by people of all ages for company and a chat, she is so calm that other kids tend to calm down around her (and she is a great influence on her ADHD brother!).
Your daughter is the very same girl she was before her diagnosis, the only difference being that you now have a name for her differences.
We will be praying for Anna and for the rest of your family during these confusing days.

I'm praying for you, Betsie, and for your lovely daughter. Loss comes in many forms...loss of a dream...loss of an expectation...loss of what we know as our *normal*. You are a lovely family and I know that God will bless you all abundantly through this transition into something new . I'm happy that you can find support here from moms who have walked a similar path.
Love,
