On Sunday my grandmother had a small stroke, I wasn't too worried as she seemed to be alright, Tuesday they ran the standard tests, and I have just received this email from my aunt:
- after the results of all the tests came in yesterday, Mum is going into have bypass surgery today and they are also going to fix a couple of the heart valves that arent working. - Her surgery is scheduled for around 12pm today, its good news that she is getting in so fast (also that she doesnt have too much time to stress over it all).
Have just spoken to her and she is in good spirits - it is such a gift to see how well Mum is handling this situation and how calm and at peace she is in general with all that she is facing.
After the surgery today (which takes between 4-5 hours) they will take her to recovery and then intensive care for about 24 hours - this is so they can monitor her until her vital signs become stable (all normal procedure)
My g-mother is in surgery now! and for the next three hours. Can I please ask for prayers.

Erin,
I am praying for your grandmother and your family. We did this same thing with my dad last week and I am certain that things went so well because of all the prayers here! Keep us updated!

Thanks for all the prayers, I received an update today
it all went very well, just came from the hospital now, she is still in ICU surgical because her breathing isant stable so still relying on a breathing tube (totally natural after being on anesetic & sedatives for so long and given her age as well)
She is not able to talk yet, but they are expecting the tube to come out tonight sometime so that will make her a little more comfortable.
She is still smiling and as cheekie as ever, and she is very very calm. I reminded her how many people were praying for her and for her to relax and let all the prayers do their job (which she always smiled and gave me a little knowing grin). She also knows Our Lady is right there beside her, and she is so brave and amazing.
she should be in the ward by tommorrow afternoon and they will get her sitting up as soon as possible.
So wonderful news  Thank you all so much.
