Last fall my dd passed several food allergy tests and we thought we were home free. In the meantime, she developed gastric reflux which is not responding well to standard medication. So the allergist retested her for food allergies, and there is a whole huge list of things she reacted to, including soy, which we thought she had outgrown.
I'll now be cooking without soy, rice, turkey, chicken, green beans and a whole lot of other things. The allergist said her soy reaction was the worst he'd ever seen. In addition, she had a massive reaction to the tape used in the test, so trying to get it off her back was a nightmare- her skin was raw and bleeding underneath.
Please say a prayer for her to feel better and for me to cheerfully begin again to cook with so many limitations. I am offering it up but it is still hard.

Ouch. I grew up with food allergies (beef, wheat and cow's milk), so I completely understand your family's worries and concerns. Your poor little girl...and I can just imagine how hard it would be to chuck all your favorite foods and recipes. You're all in my prayers, for sure.

Sorry to hear this, Melinda. From my personal experience with my son born in 03, I would also get a RAST blood test to confirm these allergies. He had some skin tests that showed new things. My doctor uses both to confirm the skin test findings. If the blood test doesn't have the same items, then I tried the foods at home. For example, his main ones are eggs, wheat and milk. The last skin test soy showed up, which I freaked, becasue that's what he drinks. But the blood test was fine, so we didn't have to remove that. There were some other minor ones which the same thing happened.
I'm praying for you, as I know how rough this can be!

Praying for you here also - we understand, right down to the adhesive allergy.
I know you didn't ask for advice, but I wanted to share what has been extremely helpful for us - I sat down and listed everything I could think of that we COULD eat, narrowed it down to about two weeks worth of meals (there are some repeats, esp. with breakfasts and lunches), charted it out, and now we repeat that two week meal plan over and over. We put our favorite "safe" meals on it, so we aren't bored (at least not yet, LOL). In a few months, when and if we do get bored, I'll try to make up a new plan. Until then, it has taken such a HUGE burden off my mind of trying to make food for this highly allergic family. HTH
FWIW, I have heard many cases of reflux disappearing once the food allergens were removed from the diet, so at least that's a plus!
Praying for all of you!

Praying for you. It is a tough transition!
Very sympathetic here: can't do gluten, sugar, dairy, and more....
Blessings,

Praying for you... my son (5) also has lots of alleriges, some he has outgrown, some not. The tests sometimes don't pick up things, too. His corn allergy shows up on t
he RAST as very, very mild but we've seen what it's done to him a couple times and it was VERY scary. It's been a while since he's been tested but he has already "out-grown" dairy, wheat and soy. Still allergic to eggs, peanut and corn.

I'll pray. Having to stick to a special diet is such a pain! I can certainly empathize.
