I know this is a little delayed but about the same time that Hurricane Katrina struck, Officer Golden was shot and killed while responding to a domestic dispute call. He was 27 and has a wife and 2 young children. It is the first police fatality in our area in 40 years and so hits pretty hard here. It just made me stop and think again in gratitude for the police officers who risk their lives everyday to protect us.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Officer Golden and for comfort and strength for his family and the police officers that served with him, especially the officer that tried to provide assistance at the scene.

My nephew has been riding with police officers in the ranger program here for some time (he plans to join the police force upon graduating from college) and this was the person he rode with when in that precinct - fortunately not that day. It has been very sad, so if you wouldn't mind saying a short prayer for him too. Thanks.

I generally don't post on the prayer board but do read and pray for the requests. Thank you all so much!
