Sorry to keep coming here for prayers for Hannah. She seems to be having nightmares now. We're thinking from the whole "mask on her face" ordeal before her surgery.

We weren't allowed to go back with her. She wakes up crying at night and at nap time saying "no" and hitting the air around her face. She also says "what's that, what's that". It's breaking my heart.

We've learned so much from this surgery experience. She and our other daughter, Rachel, will both have more surgeries in their futures for their cleft issues and things will be very different. First of all, I'm insisting on being with them when they go to sleep and on a different way to put them to sleep. My dh is a pharmacist and I KNOW there are other ways that are much less stressful for the child. There's also a medicine they can take to relax them and give them a little amnesia and can be given in a liquid form before the IV goes in. Much easier than the mask. I know it would really bother me to have someone hold something down on my face. I'd feel like I couldn't breathe!

Anyway, please pray she can forget what happened and get over her fears. Thanks, again. I'm so glad I can come here.

I am so sorry you and Hannah had to go through this, Lisa.

When my Sarah underwent her heart surgery, they gave an oral med to make her fall asleep and then took her into the OR to start IV and put her under. Piece of cake.

It is YOUR RIGHT to to be present to your dd.......they need to make it work for you.

Praying for you now and for future interactions with the healthcare!
