Kateri had her billirubin check yesterday and doc appointment today. Her billirubin had almost doubled. She is nursing well and having lots of wet and poopy diapers, so the doc thinks things are probably okay, her immature liver probably just needs a little more time to flush things out. We do have to go back Friday for a billirubin check to make sure levels drop. If they don't, we may be looking at a congenital liver disorder. Please say a prayer that all goes well.
Also, if you could add a little prsyer for me. I feel like I am getting mastitis, and I have had very little sleep. I know that usually contributes to getting mastitis, at least for me.
Thank you.
Jen

Prayers for you both. My last baby had terrible jaundice. The dr decided that it was blood incompatible and breast milk jaundice. Although her numbers got high, and we had to do light therapy at home for a week, we kept on nursing.

Praying for you Jen and for Kateri.
My second baby was premature (34 weeks) with a high billirubin count...do they still do billirubin blankets for light therapy? How about putting the baby in the window in her car seat in sunlight?

Thank you for the link, Angie. That helped ease my mind a lot. Thank you for all of the prayers. I was able to sleep more lastnight.

Our first two babies had jaundice.
In the Philippines newborns are usually put by the window from 7-9 am or so and then again in the afternoon from about 3-5. That's how my mom and aunts avoided their babies getting jaundiced. I realize it's harder here in the US esp. in the wintertime, so I'm praying for lots of sun for you!!
Praying also that it's nothing serious involving the liver, and praying that mastitis doesn't get you.

Prayers for both of you! Keep an eye on that mastitis. It certainly won't help things if you are feeling .
