Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Would you all have a quick minute to offer a prayer for me? I found a lump in my armpit today. Based on my internet searches, it seems like it is probably nothing, but I can't get in to the doctor until Tuesday, so I'm sure my imagination will go crazy for the next few days! Thank you so much!

praying for you. get off the internet searches and try not to dwell on it. this advice from a chronic "dweller"!

eta: I get lumps in my armpits when I am rundown. Just a thought of what it could be.

Praying for you, Molly. I found one last month too and freaked out ~ my mom is a 7 year breast cancer survivor. Is it painful?

Praying, Molly! It's most likely nothing. Agreeing with Molly and Dawn, *and* speaking from personal experience: The Internet searches can drive you crazy.

Thanks, everyone, for your prayers and encouragement. My dad has lymphoma, and even though it's almost certainly service related (a huge percentage of his USMA'60 classmates have cancer of some sort) it still makes me wonder if it's going to happen to me.

Yes, Mary, my lump is a little painful, which I think is actually a good thing? And my internet searches aren't turning up anything too bad--the info is not alarming at all, if anything it's been comforting. Still, I will try to stay away.

I've had a painful lump in my armpit before and it turned out to be an ingrown hair (darn shaved armpit). I'm praying that's all it is.

Molly,
I know exactly how you feel. After family history with breast cancer I am more paranoid than ever. When I had painful lumps in my pit area my dr examined me and concluded that I had Fibrocystic(sp?) disease. It is harmless except for some discomfort. He advised me to lay off of caffine and my condition should improve. I began to drink only decaf coffee and found the pain was gone. I have since slowly come back to regular coffee but much less and with no more pain.
I will still be praying for you to be able to remain optimistic until Tuesday. Keep us posted.

Yes, Molly, according to my dr. and my mom, if it is painful, then that's a good thing (from a 'you know what' perspective). Praying for your peace.

Praying for your peace of mind, Molly. Everyone in my family has a cold right now but my only symptom is that I'm covered in painful lumps--those nodes can really swell!

Susan
