My fil's wife left a message this morning saying he (my fil) is in the hospital with pneumonia and "lots of fluid." We haven't been able to contact her so we don't have more details, but my fil has been in poor health (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, chain smoker, overweight, etc.) for years. For the past few months he has looked very puffy and gray. I'm afraid it's his heart.
My dh is an only child, and it devastated him when his parents divorced (two years after we were married). His mother has had some health scares in recent years, but we live close by and are able to help her. His father lives 4-5 hours away by car, and he and dh have not had the best relationship since the divorce.
Please pray for competent doctors, that my fil will *listen* to what they tell him and *do what they say*, and that whatever is wrong can be fixed, or at least managed. And please pray for my dh.

Update:
Bill has been admitted and is on a ventilator. He has bronchial pneumonia, and they've been running tests all day to find out the underlying cause of the fluid retention. The doctors told his wife they would "try" to have him home for Christmas but weren't terribly hopeful.
We're leaving the dc with my mil and driving down first thing in the morning to spend the day at the hospital. Please keep praying -- that the kids are OK while we're gone (and that I'm OK leaving them so far away for so long  ) and for a safe trip down and back. And that the doctors figure out what's going on my fil.

Wendy, I will be praying for your father-in-law. My 14yo nephew was admitted to the hospital this afternoon with a lung issue, too, so I will remember you fil with all the prayers I'm offering for my nephew.
