Five years ago, at age 9, he had major surgery for thyroid cancer. Since then doctors from coast to coast have argued and debated his treatment and further care. He is currently the subject of two medical studies in two different states. My sister and her dh constatnly receive conflicting recommendations on how to manage his health, as thyroid cancer is quite rare in young children.
Colby has suffered quite a bit with the surgery and the aftermath, Please say a prayer that the Blessed Virgin will keep him under her wing. St. Kolbe, pray for us,

I am so sorry! This must be so frustrating and painful for Colby's parents. Poor Colby! Praying for him and for guidance and strength for his parents too.

Thank you all for your prayers. Colby will soon be on his way to California for further testing. It is possible that he will need another lymph node biopsy to see if the cancer has returned. His 14th birthday is Sept. 30... what a wonderful present good news would be!
