Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We have a second shot at the farm I mentioned back in June/July. It appears that the government actually bought the foreclosure and are preparing to re-sell. We spoke to our local APR office (that's agricultural preservation here in Mass.) and they gave us the tip. We're hoping to find a way to purchase the farm pre-sale.

It will take some creative financing because the market is slow here and selling our present home is going to be difficult. We wanted to keep the house, but I think we'll have to let it go. St. Joseph, Pray for us!

The farm seems to answer all our needs, despite the amount of renovation it requires. There are nearly 300 acres of land, and zoning may allow for us to have a retreat center on-site. This is what we have dreamed of and prayed for. A retreat center would mean that we could welcome families to stay on the farm for as long as they wish, and it would provide a place for the Simple Gifts conference to happen each year in addition to being an operating organic farm where we can raise food for ourselves, CSA members and most importantly, the poor. There is a well-known section of the town (where the farm is situated) that is destitute. Children living so close to abundant fertile farmland aren't getting the proper nutrition. It's something we can fix.

I ask you to please pray the Novena to St. Isidore the Farmer with us starting tomorrow. We are also asking the intercession of Sts. Benedict and Scholastica - our family's patrons, St. Fiacre, as well Bl. Mother Teresa who is the glue that has held this family together for 16 years!

Thank you all so very much!

Praying, Nissa, that all of the pieces fall into place. It sounds like it would be a dream come true!

Thanks so much! Brian and I both feel very compelled to do it. I only hope that whatever work we do will truly bless people.

We talked to FSA yesterday. We have to wait about 60 more days (The Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin) before we can make an offer. It's a government regulation that more qualified farmers be given first shot for 135 days after acquisition.

We took the children up to the farm yesterday afternoon to find it locked up tight with padlocks and No Trespass signs all over. The windows have been smashed and we found spray cans in the yard and drive. So sad.

However, we took a statue of St. Joseph with us and my husband led all eight of us in prayer that if it is God's will, we will soon be making our home there at the top of that hill. We buried the statue under a beautiful maple tree that has twin trunks that twine around each other.

St. Joseph, pray for us!

Thank you all for your continued prayers!

Just wanted to update you again and request your continued prayers. The farm listing went up today and the asking price is HALF what they wanted just 3 months ago.

However, the waiting period is extended to 10 December - the feast of Pope St. Gregory, a patron of education. How wonderful! *** I should have mentioned that Pope St. Gregory was a Benedictine. So are we. And he turned his home into a Benedictine monastery. That's very similar to what we want to do - a family retreat with a Benedictine spirituality.

We have been praying for St. Joseph's and St. Isidore the Farmer's intercession fervently. I am so encouraged thus far, but there is such a long way to go yet and I tend to allow myself to get anxious over such things.

i'm praying for the fulfillment of a dream and the beginning of a mission.

Continuing to pray Nissa - December the 10th is also the feast of the Holy House of Loreto! (The Translation of the House of Loreto) I thought you would like to know that too - I love that feast and feel there is a special connection between the house of the Holy Family and your dream for home and apostolate!

Oh, my goodness! I missed that! I just got the chills reading your reply!

Do you know that Our Lady of Loreto is the church where we are taking our diaconate classes? God's grace is flowing all around!
