Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Please say a prayer for my 2 year old Luke. Yesterday at his well child check-up the doctor heard a heart murmur. This is a baby who has always been very quiet and still for his doctor appointments, so the doctor knows that it has not been there before. This concerns her.

She sent us to the hospital for an EKG, but because we are in a small town the results get sent to the city to a pediatric cardiologist and my doctor won't get the report from him until Monday. I really am not happy about that wait, but there is nothing I can do about it.

Thank-you for your prayers. I really will appriciate them.

This is the first time in 10 kids that anyone has had a heart murmur so I am nervous. I don't like to think that anything could be wrong with any of my "little blessings".
Thank you for your encouragement....I will try and keep calm.

Praying for Luke, this sort of thing is in my family (mum, sister and me) though mine is extrememly mild, I sympathize, but it is good to find out now and know how to then prevent it getting worse. (antibiotic cover with ops etc.)

Prayers. My third child was diagnosed with a hert murmur at age two, also. We had an echocardiogram that had to be sent off also. That waiting was so hard. It ended up being nothing to worry about, but it was still hard.

Many prayers for you and for Luke.

I have a murmur, too, which wasn't discovered until I was in my late 20's. It doesn't really affect my life much.

Praying for your little guy!

My mother was just diagnosed with a congenital heart murmur at the age of 64!

I would be concerned if one of my children suddenly presented with a murmur, so I don't mean to minimize your concerns; my point is to say even 64 year olds can get 'new' murmurs.

I hear you Joann, please don't think I was making light of your fear.   I UNDERSTAND totally, I would never want to make you feel otherwise. My intention was for encouragment

I only took it as encouragement.
I am much more at peace now, hearing how common this really is. I only wish I didn't have to wait until Monday to find something out.

Joanne, it will be interesting to see what category/grading the murmur comes back as, and that will be the deciding factor as to how serious it is. Mine is grade one and transient (can be heard at present in pregnancy but when I am really well it cannot be detected) My mother and sister have a higher grading and they have always suffered fatigue issues connected to it. If it is a very high grading there can be future surgery or the need to lead a more 'gentle' life.

No matter what the grading, antibiotic cover for dental, operations, birth ect (these are times when bacteria could get into the blood and lodge in the valve and weaken it.) is what helps prevent the murmurs from getting worse. I had asked for prayers for a friend a few months ago who had to have an operation on her grade 4 rated valve and being on the left side of the heart (which works harder I believe) it was very serious. She was not always like this, I wonder if she had had a milder murmur that was undiagnosed and not covered by antibiotics? She started to get sick after he last birth and dental work done very soon after the birth...

I will be praying that this will graded lightly and will not impact little Luke's life too greatly.
