Please would you say some prayers for me - I am six weeks postpartum and feeling so tired and overwhelmed and still have aches and pains. The baby is such an angel - but I am nursing around the clock and feeling very sleep deprived. I am getting unnecesarily irritable with the older kids. Also have worries as I am not ready to start school yet - I feel like I am burned out before starting. I so want to have a year of "real learning" and beauty and peace - but I just am not getting in gear to plan and organize.
Thank you so much for your prayers.

Marilyn, I just popped online for a minute. I will pray for you tonight! I would postpone starting anything too official or involved for awhile if at all possible. Have you received any postcards? Could you just count that as school? :) If it makes you feel any better, I haven't done much in the way of planning or organizing either and I don't have a newborn. Hang in there!

Hugs and many prayers, Marilyn! I remember "hitting the wall" at around 6 weeks with several of my children. I hope and pray that you will find renewed energy soon!

Dear marilyn,
I agree with what all the ladies before me have said. Be gentle with yourself new babies take loads of energy out of you, so be patient.
The kiddies could maybe do some colouring in, reading, lego if you have some, documentry watching then a picture, playdough. Jig-saw puzzles for the older ones possibly. We did jig-saws for a couple of months 5 years ago when we were in a less that perfect homeschooling enviroment.
My dh talked to the dc about separating pieces into colours (different textures of colour), then separating pieces into borders and middle pieces. It taught the dc patience and they had a great sense of accoplishment when they finished.
Just a few ideas.
I hope you gather some strenght soon
Will keep you in our prayers.
Chemai

Six weeks tends to be when everyone around you assumes all is back to "normal" and you are just feeling the full effects of newborn sleep deprivation. I've said for years that the ladies who bring meals for moms with babies should pay careful attention to the first trimester of pregnancy and the 6-10 week postpartum time. Be gentle with yourself. maybe we can brainstorm some things for the next few weeks that will keep your children busy with a learning purpose but won't take a whole lot of energy on your part. Would you like to start a new thread on the Real Learning board for such idea? In the meantime, I'm praying. And you're local, so I'd like to be cooking too!

Hi Marilyn,
I found something that I am going to use with the boys over the next several months of chaos with our baby's arrival...it is an Usborne product, "Fifty Science Things to Make and Do" I believe is the title....there are fifty cards with small, very doable projects, they don't look too hokey, or too twaddly, and I want to try to do one a week or more as things settle down....couple that with whatever rabbit trails these cards take us to...and reading on the couch....and learning how to take care of little sister's special needs, learning sign....and NOT beating myself up!!!! Hang in there..please don't stress...enjoy your baby, look at this as a season that YOU need extra time to keep putting your "oxygen mask" on.....the kids will be better for it. I say all of this as a BIG reminder to myself as well....none of us ever do this perfectly, otherwise, we might take all of the credit ourselves, when indeed, it is when we are being carried that His Glory is realized.
Praying!

Dear Marilyn,
Praying for you! I've been in this situation with a newborn (and recovering from pneumonia and pluerisy around the same time) and the new year's schooling hot on my heals and I just put it back a month, it was worth it and you can always catch up later in the year when you are strong and well.
God Bless, Anne

Thank you all so much for your prayers and advice and ideas. I am feeling more peaceful - though still battling pink eye/allergies and exhaustion. I am so thankful though that I managed to fight off the breast infection. I am going to start a thread as Elizabeth mentioned. Please keep praying that despite not feeling great, I manage to be Mary-like and patient and kind and soft-spoken with my children - if I can manage this, I am not so worried about the academics.

It's me begging for prayers again - I think I may have developed masititis - very high temp, chills, burning up and one sore breast - my dh is not back till this evening and I can hardly crawl out of bed.
Any advice appreciated - I have also posted to Good Remedy forum
