I am kind of embarrassed to post this request, but I know things will get better if I have your prayers on my side.
In a month's time I will be flying (with my dh) to VA for the conference. I have not flown in 15 years, and to be truthful, I am very, very nervous about it - to the point where I've started having terrible nightmares.
I know this is such a small thing - that it's all in my head - but if you have a moment, would you say a prayer for me that I can overcome this? It is overshadowing me right now and I could use help.
Thank you, dear friends. I carry all your prayers and intentions in my heart.

I'm praying for you, Dawn. Dh has a similar terrifying fear.

Oh, Dawn, I sooooo understand...
I'll pray that as you turn your fears over to the Lord, that your thoughts (even subconscious) and imagination will follow.
I'd also recommend dousing your room with Holy Water before you go to bed - the Evil One will exploit any crack in our armor that he can. Maybe Bill can pray with you, too, before you fall asleep.

I will be praying for you. My dh has the same fear. It's probably been about that long since he has been on a plane.

Dawn, I am praying that the Blessed Virgin will shield you from the evil one's temptations to fear. Praying for your peace!

Praying for you Dawn, I have the same feelings about my trip too! I have never left my 2 yo ds nor my 5yo (much) so it's a bit unnerving to say the least. Prayers to ease your mind and your heart friend. And I can't wait to meet you

So...who wants to tell Dawn how many times I've said I was going to do an out-of-town conference and bailed on it BUT I WENT TO DENVER! And it was good. We're praying; and we so want to see you. Please don't be embarrassed. I completely and totally understand. Right, Michele?

I'm praying, Dawn. You might consider role-playing out your fears during the daytime to plug different pictures into your head for the nighttime. If your anxiety is very high, you can role play in private. If not, you can play "airport" with your children. Flight has changed a bit since 911 so it could be fun for your children to see you put your toiletries in ziplocks as they play security guard, then walk without your shoes through the security device, etc.
St. Michael, protect us!
Love,

Dawn, be assured this is not a little thing and you have my prayers.
If it makes you feel better to know, my dh is embarrassed to fly with me, I make such scenes being so afraid. I literally have to have valium to get on a plane, even then a couple of times they have threatened to have me arrested for "causig a public panic". Totally embarrassing, but the attendants won't come when I "ding" I know it sounds funny, but I am totally freaked out flying, I don't care about statistics and yes I realize the attendants are still up walking about....blah,blah blah! I think they should care if I see fuel coming put of the wing
Feel better, at least your not as neurotic as I That is why I am here, to male others realize they could be worse

You have my prayers, Dawn. I abhor flying myself and would rather drive.

Indeed.
Dawn I will lift you up. FWIW I dislike flying as well. But it's SO much faster than driving (most of the time) and ultimately it is safer.

Dh actually had the idea a few years ago to fly to Rome for the canonization of St. Josemaria. He was a mess...and I was worse for wear dealing with his fear. I actually brought some valium for him to stay calm through the flight. If I have to fly with him again, I will start giving him something for his nerves the night before, not just before the flight. The anticipation is worse than the actual flying.
I'm not saying get valium, and alcohol will dehydrate, and not a good idea, but there is a homeopathic remedy "Calms Forte" for nerves sold at Walmart and other places that might be a good start.
Also, my mother had this same fear. She's now completely over it, and it was because of prayer. Sounds simplistic, but it's true. She always gives the advice to keep on saying "Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in Thee" over and over. Sometimes it takes a while to really BELIEVE with your heart that you are placing your trust!
Back to my dh, he's realized that most of the flying fear is from lack of control. He's not in control of the situation. He's not flying, he doesn't know the plane, the route, etc. He's not in control, and that is the root of his biggest fears.
Sorry to blabber on....I am praying for you, Dawn.
