Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Please pray for the president of my local MADD chapter. Her son was hit by a drunk driver close to 20 years ago, however the injuries he received from that crash remained with him throughout his life and it looks like it is what finally caused his young death.

The following is the email I received from the woman this morning:

Dear Friends and MADD Members,
This is the most difficult email I have ever had to write, but I can't sleep so I am emailing.
I regret to inform you that at Sun 11:35pm EST we received a call from Christopher's neighbor Felix in Guatemala. Felix speaks English. Felix said that he was sorry to give us this bad news but our youngest son Christopher Michael, 25 had passed away. Evelyn his girlfriend said he was fine when she went to work, but when she came home Chris was on the floor. Felix is calling us back on Monday to let us know which hospital Chris body was taken to and how we need to proceed. At least Chris was where he loved to be in the town of Antigua, in Guatemala with his girlfriend Evelyn. The land of eternal spring.
We are assuming that Chris had a seizure and fell and that he incurred another skull fracture as a result of the seizure. Evelyn and Felix called rescue but it was apparently too late. Felix said another ambulance was coming to take Chris to the hospital, we assumed that would be the morgue. We just hope that the seizure was quick so Chris did not suffer any more. Hopefully we will be able to get the autopsy report translated from Spanish to English.
In the morning we will be contacting the Guatemalan Embassy to find out how soon Chris's body can be released so we can bring him home. Andrew and Alison are coming in from LAX and will be flying down with Matt and I to Guatemala as soon as we can. Roy has to find out if he can fly or not, since is not supposed to for several months after the surgery. Roy really hopes the Dr will give him permission to fly.
We will most likely do a service for Chris in Guatemala before we return to the US. Most parent's only have to do have to have 1 memorial service.
I called my brother Tom on his cell as he was on his way back to Harrisonburg after we got home from Las Vegas at 10:00PM. Tom is going to call my siblings and parents to let everyone know that a parents worst nightmare did occur.
Roy, Matt, and I will all be taking this week off from work.
We will let you know when and where the memorial service will be and where we are going to have donations sent in lie of flowers once we get all the millions of details worked with Guatemala govt.

How utterly painful, and then to have the language and distance complications. They are in our prayers, Cindy.
