Please pray for the repose of the souls of the firemen who were killed Monday in Charleston. The memorial service is today.
I did not know any of them personally, but the Charleston Fire department has come out twice to my house to rescue my harmless but brainless cat from the tops of very tall pine trees. The fireman frequently drive their truck through my neighborhood and stop so the kids can see the truck and talk to them. We have been to the fire station a couple of times. These are good men.
And the pictures in the paper every day of their grieving families and coworkers are just heart wrenching. One station lost six men- only one survived. Everyday these pictures make me cry.
Please pray for them all....

Large scale tragedies like this are always heart wrenching. Especially when they are local to you. That one fireman who survived is originally from Colorado I heard, and they interviewed his parents here. It was really sad - they say he is just grief stricken.

my heart just broke when I read about this. my dad is a retired FF and we are a close knit "family" (like the CG, lol).
