Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I heard today that a Catholic homeschooling mother I know is in intensive care with a rare and incurable blood disorder. Her name is Bronwen. Please pray for a miracle!

Prayer for the intercession of Pope John Paul II:

O Blessed Trinity, we thank you for having graced the church with Pope John Paul II and for allowing the tenderness of your fatherly care, the glory of the cross of Christ, and the splendor of the Holy Spirit, to shine through him. Trusting fully in your infinite mercy and in the maternal intercession of Mary, he has given us a living image of Jesus the Good Shepherd, and has shown us that holiness is the necessary measure of ordinary Christian life and is the way of achieving eternal communion with you. Grant us, by his intercession, and according to your will, the graces we implore, hoping that he will soon be numbered among your saints. Amen

Kathryn, I am so sorry to hear this, and I will pray for Bronwen, especially through the intercession of Pope John Paul II.

Good news

I just received this update:

"I have just phoned a friend of Bronwen's, to get the latest news. It appears that the prayers are working. Bronwen is now out of intensive care and sitting up in bed. The doctors looking after her stayed on duty during their time off and they are very pleased (and amazed) at her recovery."

Thank you for the prayers

We were so buoyed up by the news about Bronwen: one of those occasions when the children really learn about the power of prayer. We continue to put her at the top of our list of family prayer intentions.

Jane.

I saw a mutual friend yesterday, and Bronwen is now out of hospital . The underlying disease can't be cured but she is on medication which is helping. There is a risk of severe crisis again in the future, but it sounds as though it is not inevitable.

Deo gratias
