I hardly know where to start! First, I am asking for travel prayers for my dh. He is flying to London tomorrow for an interview in Wales. I just want him to arrive and return safely.
Additionally, I would ask that you pray that all goes well for him. He is not unhappy in his current position. But he wants to provide more opportunities for our family. It is a long story, but it all started when we met in London--I won't bore you ladies with all the other details!
We have spent the last several weeks in discernment about the possibility of moving overseas. It is very exciting, and I must admit that in my mind, I have already packed and got us there. But I have to remember that it is whatever God wants for us that is most important.
I have had to keep very quite about this because we live in an extremely small town. Only a few IRL friends and a few of you ladies know about this. But now with the interview so close, I ask for your prayers for my dh and my family esp. my dd who does not want to leave this house (she has lived here since she was 20 months old).
Thank you, ladies. As soon as I know anything (and please, Lord, remember that patience is not my best virtue), I will let you know.

Thanks for all of your prayers, ladies! Joe arrived home safely (but tired) last night. His interview went well, and he was told it would be 1 1/2 to 2 weeks before we would know anything. More waiting!
He took some incredible pictures of Wales. It certainly looks lovely. Perhaps, should it be God's will, we will find out personally!

Thanks, Katie! We are so excited! But ... it is a big move! So many things to consider ... we live in a huge old house in the middle of this country. Power and cars and ... well, you know what it is all about!
Thanks for all of your prayers ... hopefully, we will know something soon. In the meantime, we continue to pray ...

Still waiting. We keep hearing that they are working through corporate on a relocation package. Patience is not my best virtue, and it is certainly being tested right now.
Meanwhile, we are having floods in the area and our new roof (as in two weeks old yesterday), is leaking. When it rains, it pours (and it is certainly pouring right now).
Thanks for your prayers!

Will pray. My niece's best friend moved to Ireland from Illinois yesterday for two years. She is being very brave about starting middle school without her friend. I will ask her to pray especially for your dd.
God bless,
Marybeth

Oh Carole, this seems so difficult - all the waiting, and now the roof! We'll keep praying here!

What an exciting morning this has been! After months of waiting, the offer is finally here! Now we have to discern if this is in fact the best move for our family.
And of course, there are some ... considerations. Dh will be hired as a UK engineer instead of an expat. And to do that we have to provide some special documents that prove he can work in the UK. I am not certain what this entails (for example, one of the options is a British passport), but hopefully, the HR will help us out.
It also changes our tax base. So we need to look into that as well. There is private medical insurance (isn't Kathryn's dh a medical doctor), a house hunting trip, help buying and selling a home, etc. So most of it looks pretty good and the rest is just questions about the unknown.
And of course, we would be able to live in beautiful Wales. I am such an anglophile, it would be an answer to a dream that I dreamt long ago, but never thought I would realize.
So we still need a few prayers. It is such a big move (and we are not spring chicks anymore)! I pray for all you ladies daily and I hope that you will pray for me.

Carole,
Wow! I am excited for you. Regarding the tax: you will probably be exempt from paying US taxes due to your being out of the country. Many of our friends pay no tax; they have to fill out a particualr form and meet certain criteria (be out of the US for so many days etc). If he's hired as a Brit, he may have to pay British taxes, though, which os a whole 'nother barrel of beeswax.....
Again, any questions feel free to ask.
Hwyl!
