Dear Friends,
Please pray for me. I was hoping to be able to share some wonderful news with family and friends (you all included) on this blessed weekend--the news that we were expecting #4. I had all the symptoms and the test on Holy Thursday revealed a faint positive.
My dh wanted to wait awhile before sharing the news, and I was hoping another test on Sunday would show a stronger result.
Well, on Saturday night I started bleeding and by this morning I was sure we were losing this baby. As early as it was and as tiny as he/she must have been, I am still devastated. And because we didn't tell anyone, not only do I feel so sad but also so ALONE. I couldn't bring myself to tell anyone on this joyous day, didn't know whether I should or not, when everyone else is so happy and enjoying the day...
Anyway, I could use some prayers and/or words of wisdom and comfort. We so wanted to have another one and were so excited... now wondering why, and why on the happiest and holiest of days? His will be done but it is hard to accept.

Dear Jane,
One Easter I had a similar experience. Although my pregnancy test on Easter was negative. The positive result came on Mercy Sunday. I was so grateful and thought it was so merciful for the Lord to let me know my prayers had been answered on the feast of Mercy. (Although I am surrounded by children through adoption, believe it or not, I still possess the heart of an infertile woman.)
Well, it was a false positive. I was trying to work out the meaning of a false positive test on Mercy Sunday, I came up with the idea that this experience was not an experience of mercy for myself, but for others. (The sacrifice of continuing to conform myself to God's will was a channel of mercy for others.) When I told the Carmelite prioress that I believed the Lord had been merciful to others through me, she told me,
"Oh no, the Lord has been incredibly merciful to you as well. There is nothing which happens to you that is not within the hands of God."
I found her words comforting at the time. I will remember you in prayers tonight.

I am praying for you!  I am so sorry. I lost my first baby during Holy Week, and had the d and c on Good Friday, 1987.
