I write to you all in shock; this morning 3 of our diocesan priests were on the way home from last nights Chrism Mass when they were involved in a car accident. 2 priests were killed outright and the other priest is in a serious condition in hospital.
These priests have been invited into our diocese(Lismore, NSW Australia) from overseas and have come to serve the Lord here. Such a privelege for us and now...
Please pray for the souls of Fr Charles (from India, ten years in Papua New Guinea) and Fr Steve (America)and for healing and Our Lord's comfort to Fr Peter (Fillipines)
I also ask to add to your prayers Dr John Billings(The Billings Method) who died on Palm Sunday. Dr John was 89 and I imagine him standing before the Lord to hear, "Well done good and faithful servant". Just to be in the room with him was an inspiration, a Catholic gentleman through and through. And the work that he and his wife Dr Evelyn have done is a wonderful legacy. Please keep him, his wife and children and all the 'Billings Family' in your prayers.
This is a sad night indeed.

 Erin,
This is so sad to read this morning ...offering many prayers for these souls and healing for Fr. Peter and all their friends and families.

It is so shocking Erin! I received a phone call from Lismore from a mutual friend of ours and I think we are all reeling from the news.....I believe that Fr Charles concelebrated at a funeral we attended last year as well. Such a good diocese, what a loss for you all.
I will remember their souls and pray for the recovery of Fr Peter.
As to Dr John Billings, it was a lovely day to be called home to the Lord after all his good work on earth!  Will remember his soul in prayer.

I've just had an email from a priest friend of mine who was good friends with these priests. He tells us that he was meant to be in the car with them but at the last moment decided not to go!!!!! He (Fr Kennedy) has recently applied for a years leave of absence to work with the Fathers of the Missionaries of Charity in Sth America. He feels that Mother Teresa has obtained his safety. Fr K. aks that we also remember our Bishop(Bishop Jarrett) and the Cathedral administor in our prayers and if we could spare some prayers for him and the other priests of the diocese.

Erin, I am in further shock for Fr Kennedy I know personally. To think he came so close to being in the car  God obviously has further good for him to do on earth.
Young priests are a rarity in Australia and these men left family and homeland to minister to us all, I will post for prayers on our city's email 'catholic grapevine.'

I am so sorry for these losses! These priests -- both the two who died and the two (Fr. Kennedy and Fr. Peter) who did not are in our prayers.
Praying for the repose of Dr. Billings as well. Billings was what we were taught when we were going through marriage prep here years ago.
