Dear loved ones,
I come humbly before you all to ask prayers for our family for several reasons. My dad has been diagnosed with colo-rectal cancer. He will need to have surgery (which will probably be the Monday or Tuesday following Easter....the doctor has not given us a specific date yet). This surgery will be extremely intense as they will be re-routing his colon and giving him a colostomy bag. Additionally it is possible that they will have to give him one for urine as well, they won't know about that until they operate. He has had prostate cancer previously and there is some fear that because of the radiation used at the time that his "inside parts" may be fused together. He is 75 but in great physical condition otherwise. However, my mom was diagnosed with a heart condition last year at this time and so I worry about her since she is stressed about my dad.
To make matters worse, I am an only child and we live 6 hours away. I feel terribly responsible that I need to be there and definitely will for the surgery but then there are our 4dc to consider. We are looking to move down there but until that happens, my life is so divided (which is even more stress as well....needing to sell our house, buy a house, dh's job, etc). We are still in the process of grieving the loss of my FIL to colon cancer in August.
And although some will think me foolish to add this, our family dog was hit by a car Thursday evening. She has survived and we are babying her with her injuries but it was heartbreaking especially to hear our 3yodd calling for her through her tears.
I am a complete emotional wreck and the house definitely shows that which of course upsets dh as he wants MORE order when he is stressed. I would love to have everything under control and ordered as well but I can't physically do it because I'm so emotionally stuck. Of course this is taking an emotional toil on the dc as well as the dh.
Sorry to have written so much I do want to thank all of you in advance who will take the time to pray for us.
Many blessings to you all!
In Christ,
Therese (who is )

Please don't feel like you need to apologize for writing a prayer request. It is a blessing to pray for you. Know that we will keep you and your intentions in our prayers...

This is not foolish at all, Therese. I do hope your pet recovers swiftly.
I will join our family's suffering to yours. Our beloved cat died this week.
Pets are so much a part of our families. And there's a reason for that. I was raised with dogs all my life. They were my first teachers of unconditional love and they are part of God's plan for teaching us about death at a young age.
They are God's creatures and so we love them and we hurt when they hurt.
I will pray that your family dog will be restored to health.

prayers for you !! Colon cancer is so scary. My grandma died of it when I was in high school, and my dad was an only child too, so he felt so helpless living on the opposite coast from her. God will provide for all of you though. He knows your needs.

We are praying! I understand the need for order when I am sick or stressed out...I think b/c it is the one thing we can control at the moment.
Praying for all your intentions. Do you have a copy of the prayer of St. Francis? It always brings me comfort and most especially for an animal..they are part of the family too!!
Peace,
Mb

Therese,
I am so glad you came to us. Will definitely add your intentions to my prayers, esp during Holy Week.

I am praying too Therese.
Here's what your the little saint who has the same name as you says (hope this will help! I keep this posted on my fridge!)
"If I did not suffer minute by minute, it would be impossible for me to be patient, but i see only the present moment, I forget the past and take good care not to anticipate the future.
If we grow disheartened, if we sometimes despair, it is because we have been dwelling on the past or the future."

I cannot even begin to express what each and every one of your prayers mean to me and my family. This is such a trying time and I wish I could tell you what a blessing these prayers are to my spirit and what peace they have brought to my soul (and that's not an easy task , I might add).
I am so blessed by this forum! Never having had sisters, I feel like I have found a connection with all of you that transends even "blood." Thank you so much and I will post tomorrow evening, when I hope to have a specific date on the surgery.
Our family pet is doing well Ignoring her two shaved areas, you would never know!!! She even jumped on the couch today (twice ) which you wouldn't think a dog with a broken pubic bone would even attempt. I must say, she is quite the fighter My prayer is that my dad will be even tougher
Again, many thanks to you all and I pray for blessings upon each of you for your support and prayers.
Your sister in Christ,
Therese (who is only now but just completely )

I'm praying for you, Therese. Being far away from family is so difficult when health problems arise, I know.
