Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I feel selfish for posting this because I have 2 beautiful, healthy children and I know that there are so many couples in the world who pray every night for just one. My husband (who is not Catholic) does not want to have anymore children. He is a wonderful husband and super father. We use NFP. I have this deep desire to have another child. I started praying to the Lord for another baby years ago. Then I started praying for God to remove the desire if that was not His will. I think about it constantly and cannot describe the emptiness that I feel. I am so confused. I want to do God's will and submit to my husband as the bible asks us to. I don't usually post things but I don't know what to do anymore. If any one has any thoughts/prayers/suggestions I would be grateful beyond measure.

Hi Jenny Ann,

Prayers for you and your intention. It's not selfish, it's a natural thing when you love to want to give more love and have more children.

Would your husband be willing to read a book together with you? There was some discussion on this board about NFP and the book "Covenanted Happiness" by Msgr. Cormac Burke.

And perhaps a novena to St. Joseph, or 54 day rosary novena to open his heart.

Jenny Ann, I'm so glad that you posted. Your heart is grateful and heavy. I will pray for your intentions and for peace.

In addition to the Covenanted Happiness threads you might find encouragement reading a past thread on the topic of subordination.

Love,

Dear Jenny Ann,
The prayers are yours.

Society is teaching that this desire to have more children, so dear with women, is a bad thing and we must guard against it and fight it off. When really it is a thing of beauty and a part of being a child of God.

To co-create with God! It's an awesome and blessed thing.

You are so fortunate to have this on your heart and to be praying and discerning this now while your family is young.

I have often heard it said, and could not agree more, that no couple regrets having "one more" child, but many couples regret not having had "one more".

Pray first to accept God's will, pray for your dh's change of heart, then just ask him for "one more".

Just "one more". Often that "one more" is what opens the .

Bless you and yours.

Dear Jenny Ann, I will be praying for you. I have been suffering with this cross for a long time. I finally did the 54 day novena, and praise God, I am now 6 weeks along. I prayed those exact words Cay said, "to accept God's will, pray for your dh's change of heart, then just ask him for "one more".

Here is another beautiful prayer:

Prayer to Our Lady of la Leche for a baby

Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my Mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Saviour. Intercede with Him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

God bless you.

Thank you all for your kind and comforting words. Jenn and Angie, thanks for the suggestion of the reading and the book. I am checking into that now. Cay Thank you for the words of wisdom. Ruth-thanks so much for your inspiring testimony. I am printing out the Our Lady of la Leche prayer and will be adding it to my daily prayers. I have a St Joseph candle and ask St Joseph to protect my husband and encourage him in his day. Now I will have an added request! Thank you ladies again! I wrote that post last night when I felt so alone and in despair. Your support has given me hope. In Christ's name I pray for all of you and your families. Jenny

Been there, done that, and I know just how hard it is. I did eventually come to accept that God's will was that we would not have more children ... then he sent that "just one more" when I was 45 .

Jenny and Elizabeth, I will be praying for both of you.

I just thought that I would post an update. The year of 2007-2008 was a very turbulent one for our family. I became pregnant at the end of 2007 but sadly miscarried in Jan of 2008. My husband took a new job in another state and we moved. I became pregnant again and joyfully gave birth to Connor in Feb of 2009 ( not before moving to another state AGAIN!). The Lord has showed me that in the mist of uncertainty and trouble He can provide joy (our miracle boy!). The exerience has shown my husband the miracle of God's work. Praying for all the ladies out there and babies yet to be born. You ladies really and truly are the greatest!
