Dear all,
I just met a woman at a one-day retreat at my parish who is starting to re-explore her Faith after 20 years for the sake of her adopted child. She is married to a non-religious man and explained that she got too busy to practise her Faith. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit (thank God!), we have said the rosary together once and even stood in line to go to confession. I have offered my contact information should she need any spiritual support and am going to meet with her child at the park. Please pray for this women, Theresa and myself. To be truthful, I feel sorely inadequate. Having converted to Catholism 5 years ago, I have also grown to love the Church and having a hard time understanding why someone would leave the Church. So please do pray that I can continue to answer God's call. I do wish I studied more apologetics though.

Genevieve,
I will pray that God provides you with what you need to help this woman. I will pray for her as well.

I will pray for you both through the intercession of St. Theresa the Little Flower and St. Genevieve, two great French saints who will no doubt intercede for you in this task.

I don't think you're going to be inadequate to this task, Genevieve. I think God placed this woman in your path for a reason. Some people come to the faith via an in-depth apologetics study, and some people through beautiful women who are willing to pray the Rosary with them.
When she asks you something that you don't have an immediate answer for, simply say something such as, "I don't know exactly how to phrase the answer to that, but I'm going to get back to you on it." Then, do get back to her. You can look things up as she asks, thus sharpening your own apologetics and answering her questions in the process.
The Holy Spirit will guide you through this!

Karen, I love this advice and follow it completely. I've even taught my girls that if questions of faith ever arise and they are unsure how to answer, they should remember to trust the teachings of the Catholic Church and tell the person asking, "I do not know the answer to your question, but I will find out, and I promise it will be a good one."
I have used this response on more than one occasion, and I've never been disappointed. That is the "Splendor of Truth"!

Absolutely! I've used it, too, Alice and you're right ... I've never been disappointed.
