I will be away from the boards through Wednesday, as I'm going to NY to be with my mother while she has triple bypass surgery on Tuesday. I'm extremely nervous about her having this surgery, as her overall health is not fabulous.She's 74, overweight and diabetic. But the docs feel very strongly that the surgery will help her feel better enough to really impact her quality of life and mobility, which have been declining rapidly over the last 12-18 months.
Also, I'm feeling very uneasy/helpless because I'm not able to be as much help to my parents right now because I'm 36 weeks along. We're relying on an extremely UNreliable sister of mine to be my mother's caregiver when she's released from the hospital, which is a further cause of anxiety.
If you think of it, please keep these intentions in your prayers, and as always, know I'm praying for yours.

Oh, Noreen, I am so sorry for all of your worries! You definitely have my prayers. Ask Saint John of God, patron saint of heart patients to intercede for you, maybe to do your worrying for you

Update: not so great. The surgery itself went well, although she ended up having 5 bypasses instead of 3. Unfortunately, so far, her recovery is not going as well as they would like. She's in a great deal of pain, and the hosp. staff is trying to balance giving her the pain relief she needs and not giving her so much t hat it compromises her ability to breathe deeply after the surgery. She hasn't been able to sit up like they want her to or get out of bed yet, and she's at a great risk of pneumonia.
Unfortunately, I had to come home to CT tonight...I'm hoping dh will agree to let me drive down there again this weekend. I'm getting mighty far along in this pregnancy, and I think he's getting nervous about that as well.

Noreen, I'm so sorry. I went through this with my dad a few years ago, and the worry, heartache, and stress was unbelievable on all of us. Prayers continuing for you all.

Thank you all for the prayers---they are working, thanks be to God!
I ended up driving back to NY Thursday morning with kids in tow. They thought my mom had pneumonia, but thankfully the culture came back negative. It looks like her kidneys are just about up to par (and they won't have to put her on dialysis ). She's been back on a respirator since last Wednesday, but they've been weaning her off that and expect to be able to remove it tomorrow. I'm feeling so much more hopeful--I think her recovery will take time, but I do think she'll recover.
It brought me a great deal of comfort to know you all were praying! Thank you.
Now, tomorrow I'm 37 weeks, so if this baby just wants to go on ahead and be born--that would be great! Otherwise, I don't know when I'll be able to get back and see my mom.
