Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Call me crazy but I'm excited.
I have never been in this much snow.
We have our supply of hot chocolate, fire wood, books and movies as well as a few bottles of wine to get keep us warm. What a great snuggle time, valetines day and snow....
My husband was telling his patients he's not sure who is more excited his wife or his children!
They have closed his office at noon and for tomorrow and he gets to stay home with us - how exciting!

I am praying we are all safe and that our power stays on, but I cannot help but enjoy this pajama day with the kids and looking forward to my husband getting home.

Crazy in Indiana,
StacyLynn

I'm a bit excited too! All schools were closed here, I hope hubby gets to come home early or stay home tomorrow when it's really supposed to hit us. We're calling for 14 or more inches here by tomorrow afternoon. What are you supposed to get? (I'm in Ohio)

Nothing but rain predicted here, unless the front dips a bit or some such.

DH keeps telling me he wants to retire someplace with four seasons, but I have to remind him that he is nearly 42 and already has a BAAAD back, not to mention the arthritis he is already dealing with...and that cold weather, while nice, is not likely to make either of those situations any better.

Rachel (who wouldn't mind a littttttle of the white stuff)

OK, StacyLynn you're crazy!

The kids who got up this morning all GROANED when they saw it was snowing (the city just came yesterday to plow away the snow on the streets accumulated since 12/20!). They've about had it with all this white stuff around here.

Hope y'all stay warm and dry and cozy!

I found my way here by way of LISBET'S Joyful Chaos blog. I googled large catholic family homeschooling, and here I am.

My husband of 20 years is Patrick and we are both cradle Catholics. We have been blessed with 10 children. Pat Jr.-19; Rebecca-18; Matthew-16; Daniel-14; Amy-12; Laura-11; Mark-7; Grace-5; Luke-21 months 5/6/06 and Kimberly-9 months 5/3/07.

We live in central New York and have been having quite a winter of sickness. Including 11 of us all coming down with bacterial pneumonia that started the week before Christmas and lasting for about a month and a half.

I am very thankful to have found some companionship here as we are all very homebound.

We also homeschool on the good days. LOL

We are also calling for 14 or more inches!

Whew, that will be a record for us. We have not had that much snow at once in over 20 years!

Still Crazy & excited in Indiana,

Welcome Joann! Very nice to meet you. I am always so humbled when someone googles anything Catholic and finds their way to my blog.    I know you will find great support and companionship here!

My boys are out in it right now. We're only supposed to get 4-6 in south central PA but tomorrow it's supposed to be topped with ice and freezing rain so I'm guessing it'll be a day at home for all, hopefully including dh

This is a big one for me. We moved from VA 2 years ago and I have never really been keen on as much snow as we get here in NE Ohio. My dh told me we are supposed to get 7 inches today. I said "Alright!" He looked at me like someone replaced his wife. I have actually grown to enjoy this stuff--this year-maybe it was the mild start to the winter. Even when it is below zero! Enjoy everyone!

Sorry, I'm with Mary G. - you all are nuts!

We've had it with cold weather and snow here in southern Saskatchewan, thank you very much - looking forward to the warmer weather predicted for Thursday!

DD#3 and I prepared for our first big snow of the year.
Finally! at least according to DD. I on the other hand would be happy to slide into spring without any snow.

The chickens stayed in the coop (The rooster had alot to "doodle" about that!)
Brought firewood in and onto the porch.
Checked for warm gloves that fit. (How can glove size change in a 2 months?Well when I measured her this morning DD#3 has grown an inch since November)
And the sleds are down from the top of the barn and ready for use on the back porch.
DD#2 has an early dismissal from HS.

Yesterday DH gassed up "my" snow blower. Yes mine , I like clearing paths and the driveway. This snowblower is not a huge one so I can manage the job. Shovelling , I would rather leave to the girls, too hard on my back.

DH will not be able to enjoy a snow day with us tomorrow since there are no snow days in the ER. We are very grateful for the Subaru--especially when DH leaves at 6AM; of course 4WD does nothing on icy hills, but the state plows do a good job with salt and anti-skid. DH is not a real fan of snow anyways.

I pray all in the storm's path, stay safe

StacyLynn,
Where are you in Indiana? My husband and I got married in Lafayette in 1999. I am from Wisconsin and he is from Michigan, we grew up in snow country. I didn't think anything of a January wedding...especially in Indian with average snow fall of 18 inches.

Boy was I in for a surprise when they were dumped on!!!! All the weddings were canceled the weekend before ours. But, it was tolerable the weekend after (praise the Lord!) However all the people traveling wondered if they had heard of a snow plow that far south!!

Have fun in the snow, we are in NC now and I miss is!

We've got snow coming to New England, too! (Our first real storm of the season! We are VERY excited!)

OK ... so y'all have to take pictures and send them to me for Field Day! (Shameless plug! )

WELCOME! Yes, there are blessings to being snowbound -- it's amazing the places you can go virtually!

Stay warm and again welcome to this motley crew of Catholic homeschoolers!
