with a skirt?
Five minutes ago I officially began the awkward stage of growing your hair out. I am getting a trim next Saturday. What can I do for the next eight days? If I can't wear a hat with a skirt, I may have to resort to wearing jeans again. Help!

Cheryl -
I think a babushka would be lovely.
I'm sorry, but your question just has me in stitches. Maybe I'm over-tired or something.
I know that *growing the hair out* struggle. Little ends sticking up all over the place; you want to cover it up so you don't have to deal with it, because it is not *deal-with-it-able*.
I would think that with a casual skirt, maybe denim, it would be okay. I definitely think that being able to pull this off is nine-tenths attitude. If you walk around wondering whether you look too silly, it will never work. My only question is how will you handle this *look* with going to Mass?
Peace,
Nancy

Absolutely!! My favorite is one that says "Relax" on the front, it's a lovely pale blue, got it at some resort, can't remember where
And yes, even while wearing a skirt

Yes, I would! I love baseball hats in the summer (though I suspect I look kind of dorky in them ).
My hair is finally past that in-between stage, so I'm hoping to wear a low pony or a bun at the nape of my neck.
ETA - I don't think anyone else looks dorky in baseball hats, btw - just my husband and me. We just can't pull it off! (But I still try! )

Cheryl, I'm growing my hair out too, and I do wear babuska's around the house, I've even wore them running around town! I look like a little boy in a cap!
They make some lovely bandana's!

I am laughing too. But trust me, I am laughing WITH you, not at you! I can't pull off a baseball cap either, although I would love to. I think it is a great look. Nice and sporty.
So, if you have some denim or khaki skirts, go for it. Make it casual, skip the silk!
Post a picture and we will give you a thumbs up or down.

In It's a Wonderful Life - the female lead wears a baseball cap with skirt in the scene where they're welcoming the Martini family into their new home.

I think these scarves tied back at the nape look kind of chic!

I don't know what your hair is like, but my tried and true method for "need a hair cut, might be able to fit one in next month" is a head band.
Walmart carries a pack of two that holds my hair back well and has the part down by your ear bent back so it doesn't hurt (I wear glasses).
I hope that helps,
Betsy

Headbands are your best friend right now, and they're trendy at the moment, so you should have plenty of choices. I'm trying to decide whether to go long or hack it off again myself right now, so I'm there with you.

Guess what! Someone pm'ed me about how she does her hair. I'm going to try it. But today, I didn't wear a hat. I tried putting a lot of my dh's Redken Rewind in my hair, then I overloaded it with hairspray. I went out with a friend of mine and she said my hair looked good. I didn't really believe her because sometimes friends can like you so much that they think your hair looks good when it really doesn't. But then a woman I don't know told me that I have beautiful thick hair.
So my solution is to put tons of goop and hairspray in it. Unfortunately, the hairspray bothers my contact lenses. And now I'm wondering if I should still get it cut on Saturday....

Good luck with growing out your hair!
