Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

After finally qualifying for the More the Merrier board with the birth of baby T, I have to wait three years to qualify for the over 40 board.

Just teasing! Congratulations on the new board!

I don't know what's in the works behind the scenes, but...

Given Danielle's post about young mothers needing support, I was wondering if it might be a good idea to start a forum for the under 30s crowd here. I have two twenty-something sisters who are married with young dc, but they don't come here because their dc are preschoolers and they see 4Real more as a place for those "officially" hsing.

Although I'd hate to see too much age-segregation here, having their own forum might draw in some of the younger women who find it so lonely to live their vocation faithfully in today's world. And once here, they might feel more comfortable mingling with some of us more, um, seasoned moms. Personally, I love hanging out with my younger sisters, because I start to believe that I'm back in my 20s again.

Anyway, just a thought. I'd love to hear what our younger members here think. Maybe I should have started a thread with a new topic name...will they even see it here?

Where does that leave those of us in the 30-39 age range?      Just kidding, I think it's great! 9 More years and I'll be joining you all there!

Oh dear, am I seasoned already? I have to say it's funny how younger moms start looking up to those of us with a few more years under our belts, and I just have to think, "Who me? I'm just a punk!" And then I look at the calendar, and the crows feet, and my getting-bigger-all-the-time-kids and realize that they're right and I just have a warped sense of time!

I saw it! I don't personally think another forum is neccessary. Like you said, too much segregation leads to overtones of the old treehouse with "Boys/Girls Only" sign hammered up on the trunk! I wondered a bit about having one for only children/fewer children and tried a couple of threads to explore that, but from the responses I think any issues people seem to have can be handled within the forums already available.

I think the older vs. younger member idea can be handled the same way, a few threads if a younger member is desperate for help. I can't even really think what we'd talk about exclusively among ourselves that couldn't be addressed elsewhere. Someone had mentioned a mentoring aspect, maybe a sticky topic explaining how to contact a willing and experienced mother would fulfill that.

I'm with Jennifer and Bridget. An Over 40 board gives us something to look forward to (I've got 5 years to go here!). And the other forums are pretty supportive to "younger moms" and our struggles to homeschool and manage the day to day of raising a family.

Although I'm now *gulp* 42, I'm relatively new at homeschooling, living a more full Catholic life, etc, so I really love hearing from other moms of all ages, since many have more experience than I do at this learning lifestyle.
However, there are some issues that are good to talk over with people in the same age group, so some age-specific threads sound like a good idea.

I'm just glad that there are people on this forum who will know who I'm talking about if I mention Bobby Sherman, Rex Smith, or Tony de Franco!!!

Hey, Marcie -- I've got relatives in Kaplan. You're not too far from there, right? The plan at this point is to be there for an 80th birthday party on April 7th...maybe I'll be able to meet you, too!

I am very close to Kaplan! Actually, I just found out that I also live very close to Alice Cantrell too!
Let me know when you are here and I can make plans to meet you somewhere.......I think that would be awesome!!
Maybe we could coax Cay into a little travel time too...........
