Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Several months ago dear friend, carrying several very heavy crosses, asked me to do a project for her.

An important project.

A project I really, really want to do well.

The first time I sat down to work on it, everything flowed beautifully. Every time since then it has been like banging my head against a brick wall. Nothing comes. And I am starting to feel terrible that I haven't completed this yet.

Help? Prayers and suggestions are both very welcome.

If you're working "in sequence" could you perhaps skip ahead to something else? sometimes working on that will give you the ideas of what you want in the skipped space.

Praying for Holy Spirit led creativity to flow.

Sara, several months ago, I had serious writer's block. So much so I thought I would never really write again.

Then I mentioned it to a very holy friend and asked her to pray for the writer's block to be lifted if it was God's will.

She prayed, and within a day I was writing up a storm and haven't had a slump since.

In other words, we will all pray for you! It will help, no doubt.

(I'm sure you tried these...)

Free write
Write on completely different subject to warm up
Try poetry (you can always change it up for final)
Do something really odd like a shape poem just to get started
Try recording (dictate) rather than writing
Change your audience
Change your location (sprawl on floor or bed rather than at desk)
Change materials (pen and journal vs. computer)

In one of my college writing courses, we were given a large sheet of paper that had a brick wall sketched out on it. We were to fill in each brick and then we posted everyone's work together on the classroom wall and thought up some cute name for overcoming writer's block. When you said you felt like you were banging your head on a brick wall it triggered my memory! These were just a few of the strategies I can remember this morning. Hope they help, Sara!
Praying...
