Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can someone help me? DH & I both use feather/down pillows and they're smelling a little stale. (DH says it's just my pregnant nose - but whatever)

Rather than spending the $$$ for new pillows, can someone advise me on how to clean them safely?

thanks :)

I run ours through the washing machine on cold, dry them on low in the dryer and then set them in the sun for a few hours to finish drying.

I have washed them before with good results but you may just want to try airing them out.

Take then outside and shake them well then leave them outside all day. I would also probably spray them with febreeze to freshen them up.

I wash down bedding also. I dry it in the dryer on low with 2 or 3 tennis balls to help separate the feathers. Otherwise the feathers tend to clump up together. I do the same with down jackets. We dry them in the dryer until they are completely dry.
Here in Germany you can have them cleaned professionally, where the damaged feathers are removed, and the casings and feathers washed separately...I have never done this because of the cost.

Tennis balls - an old German recipe!
